On a normal day, you would not see all these different birds perched this closely together. But this is not a normal day: they are the last birds and they have gathered on the last tree--perhaps the Tree of Life itself--because they have no other place to go. Their world has become suddenly hostile and alien to them, so, bewildered and frightened, they await the fate that we have ordained for them. I hope this is a vision that never comes true.Oil on salvaged wood panel

I take it that you are familiar with the poem Ozymandius. That one is currently on loan to a traveling gallery that takes art around these rural parts to show kids who don't have access to regular galleries. Interesting selection!

I was hoping that the larger image worked the way you wanted, so you could enlarge it and see the details. I decided to keep the image as beautiful as I could so that people would want to look at the image and then understand the warning. I shared this image over on Facebook to one of the Climate Strike pages and it got a lot of attention...so perhaps I have done a little bit to help solve the problem. I hope so. I told you that there was a second meaning...where the image shows the thirsty birds waiting for the summer rains. I hope that one is true. But more than anything, I am glad that the painting pleases you and, perhaps, inspires you!
