5 x 9 inches watercolor on watercolor paperI wanted this one to be a little softer, so I didn't use an ink outline, I left the roughness of pencil shine through. I've seen it used effectively before, and I think it works okay here. I feel I've improved since my last giraffe work.
I couldn't make it as sad as requested, and the background once I drew the giraffe I couldn't make one that made me happy. I had to add the boy to cheer up the piece some. Hope that's okay tallycat!
A giraffe that is upset cause it can't go the little kid rides.

I definately want the Rockies in this! 20 out of 21 games is crazy!! I don't really care so much for the other teams. Indians I think would be a more interesting baseball story, but the Soxs would add more media interest. Oh! Game just ended, looks like the Tribe is up 2 to 1. You follow the AL better, which team is stronger? Which will win the pennant?
Yeah, that whole world series thing is weird, but I would miss the name if they changed it!

We'll see if the Rockies can stay that hot after their days off. I was wondering if they'd have a lull after the NLDS, but no such thing happened. I hope so, go National League!
I'll have game 5 on tonight, we'll see if Josh Beckett can be the ace and get it back to Boston. This is great baseball!

I agree, the soft pencil lineart works really well. It leaves a softer edge than inking it. Good job! And the giraffe is so sad....but yay for the boy! He's so sweet. This is a good pic because at first you're sad, then the boy's kindness cheers you up.

Oh thank you! That is what strikes me most about this too. The giraffe is so large, yet, his posture and presence on the page is small.
I think I'm going to practice no ink but bringing the pencilwork visible. I enjoy the texture.

Oh thank you, so glad you still liked it! I really did try drawing an amusement park in the background. I knew what I wanted to do with the giraffe very quickly. But I drew 3 other backgrounds and I didn't like them at all. They distracted from the giraffe.
