Back in March, when Ship to Shore Phono Co. put up that kickstarter to release the MOTHER soundtrack on vinyl, I offered to do a bunch of artwork for the liner notes, one illustration for each track. They accepted, so now there's a booklet floating around out there with my fingerprints all over it! Here's the art for the Magicant instrumental!Related content

I always thought the sky was kinda greenish, since I thought it reflected off the Magicantian rivers.

CAn't say I remember any brown mountains in magicant. What are the meant to represent?

The mountains are there for a couple of reasons. Ship to Shore had a specific format for me to make my art in (the booklet was originally planned to be cropped roughly the size and shape of a Super NES instruction manual, so I had the challenge of vertically creating an art piece that seemed to lend itself to a horizontal format), then a couple months in they changed it to a more square format. I knew from the angle I wanted to show Magicant from that there wouldn't be much variation in topography, so I put a couple of mountains in behind the guitarist's house (i.e. just beyond the game map's borders) in order to both remedy that and help flesh out the scenery a bit. Of course, I figured a vague Twin Peaks reference would be appropriate for the atmosphere of the MOTHER games, which is why there are two mountains.
