Description
Fangamer Packing Slip #005 of 200 (Totally Awesome Category)On the Donut Plains (World 2 of Super Mario World) there's a pipe that takes you to a secret stage. What's notable about this is that said stage is located atop a cliff overlooking the Valley of Bowser (the final world). Another childhood memory of mine is discovering this pathway, and getting excited, believing I had found a shortcut and wondering desperately how to actually get down into the Valley.
TOUCHUPS: If you happen to get the actual, physical slip from a Fangamer order, you'll notice that the far cliff doesn't have those "glimmer" spots on it. I Photoshopped those in for the dA submission, after completing the slip and realizing I forgot to leave some spaces open for that, so that it would match the near cliff-face.

I always loved that episode of the cartoon. It was the origin story!

Man that cartoon was so cheesy though.

Still, I prefer it to the Super Mario Bros. Super Show or the SMB3 cartoon.

It is more closer to the video game then the first two.

Too bad it's just a sneak peek of what you'll be encountering in the future. All you can do is just watch helplessly as Bowser flies around, Peach trapped inside.

The style you draw in is amazing. I swear, one look at Luigi's face and it reminds me of the Super Mario Adventures comic where he looks exactly the same way.

You're very kind, thanks! And "Super Mario Adventures" was definitely a part of my childhood, so I guess it's no wonder

Got that same thought when I first came to that secret.
What a great homage to the classic Super Mario World. Great job on this.

Thanks, glad you like it. I think it's a huge part of the appeal of videogames, those moments we all remember from childhood that got us excited and hopeful.
(And sorry this is late in coming, I'm just now getting around to responding to comments.)
