Description

The Timber Rattlesnake has a wide distribution (North Florida to Southern Canada)  and extremely deadly venom.  However, it rarely bites humans, preferring a live and let live policy. In decades of wandering around in their habitat I’ve only seen 2, probably because they are well camouflaged. This one isn’t too happy that it was discovered by a college field trip with silly boys trying to impress the girls. The other one my teenage son caught and took to the University Museum. Since it was a rare find for that far south in Florida they wanted to keep it.  But when he found out they were going to pickle it, he took it outside and let it go into the patch of woods behind the museum LOL!
