Description
Note 6/17/15: Times change and methods change. I thank everyone who has faved this and are still faving. I still color without a lineart, but I do not do it the same way that I used to (as seen on the tutorial). I think the point I'm trying to make is this is only the start. This was the start for me and the start for some of you. Find a way you're comfortable in doing your art and improve it. Help yourself to evolve. I'm glad so many people are still using this as a guide, but that doesn't mean you should follow my tutorial exactly all the time for it to be right. Find a way that fits you. Keep improving!-Kenzichi
Note: Look through the comments or read the whole description before asking your question. It may have been answered already ;D

Revised 7/29/13
*Warning: long, tedious file* ;-;
A friend here wanted a tutorial on how I color my pics so here ya go!
-This is on PAINT TOOL SAI and isn't necessarily the CORRECT way to do this.
-This doesn't mean that it is only LIMITED to Sai. You can use whatever program you want. For photoshop, for example, instead of blending you can use SMUDGE.
-I don't use a lineart and instead just sketch my picture and color over it on a different layer.
-Ask questions if you need to
-I used one layer for most of my coloring. The only exceptions are the outline for the eyes, objects or hands (if they are in front of the body) and of course background and foreground.
-You can use as many layers as you want for this method. IT'LL STILL WORK.

in SAI i use the brush tool
above all the brush sizes you should see blending there

but couldn't you just make a black lineart, then opacity lock the whole layer and change the color of any sections of the lineart by running your brush over it?

yeah you can, but, again, this is for people who just can't get a good lineart going for them
I'M not good at linearts so i just use this method and plus it takes less time for me to do this method than to try to make a lineart then coloring it
