Description
Note: To put a texture in Sai just copy and paste!Note: Look through the comments before asking your question. It may have been answered already ;D
EDIT 12/2/13: I just want to note that this tutorial goes over layer order, layer modes, and clipping groups. All of these are useful when using textures.

Tutorial based on this picture:
So a friend of mine asked if I could make a tutorial on how I did the texture for this picture. I'm pretty tired tonight and I was just going to do it later today (since it's 1 am now), but I decided to go ahead and get it done.
This is a tutorial on Paint Tool Sai, but this method is NOT exclusive to JUST Sai. Photoshop users can use this too.
And you guys CAN just leave the texture the way it is. You don't have to change it to overlay. This is just how I did it for my picture. There are also other modes you can play with like luminosity and multiply. Play around with these modes and see what you like best.

Look it up? There are thousands of tutorials online. I'm sure you can find it somewhere.
I'm not sure what you mean by glare exactly, but I found this: www.photoshopelementsuser.com/…
Part 6 to be exact. Just follow that basic premise and I'm sure you can make it work for a cockpit. You can also lower the opacity to make it work. Hope that helps!

Ok, I'm using SAI...
And this was one of the TUT's that Google gave me when I searched for "How to draw a glare", How to draw a glare
on glass, and How to draw a sun glare... etc.

You can still use that tutorial for Sai. Sai has a blur tool and opacity.
And well I can't help that. Sorry it mislead you. That's the best I can do

Oh my, this was one of the most helpful tutorials I've seen until now. I've always wanted to have pretty backgrounds, and now I know how to use them! THANK YOU SO MUCH! And...
I copied this part
Well did you try to save the texture then open it in paint and then copy it from there? I don't know any other way than that unless you can open the texture on sai (or whatever you use) and drag it onto the canvas you are working on
so I don't forget how to use it. Hope you don't mind.

Did your program pop up a message when you tried to paste it?
Well did you try to save the texture then open it in paint and then copy it from there? I don't know any other way than that unless you can open the texture on sai (or whatever you use) and drag it onto the canvas you are working on.

What's the significance over preserve transparency?

KENZICHII In reply to moonbaby17 [2012-07-20 05:25:31 +0000 UTC]
Nothing really. I just wanted my background to be transparent. Actually I can't really explain why. I just thought it'd look better. You can look at the original deviation to see why I chose to have the bg transparent instead of a plain white bg: [link]

Where do you find textures ? Like do you have a database or it's just like google
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
KENZICHII In reply to Neicha-chan [2012-06-21 18:57:57 +0000 UTC]
I don't go to a specific place to find textures. I've only used them around 4 times and 3 of them are from the guy that I linked to in the description. You can find them anywhere though.
