Description
Model/Dancers Jeff & Kassi one day at the studio fooling around.We're using an old metal truss like the type used to hang lights off of onstage. It's chained to my ceiling beams but loose on the bottom, so the dancers are sort of counter-balanced. I have a lot of room in my studio but for dance I feel like I need something the size of a stage!

I really like the use of b/w in this picture, it brings so much attention to the dancers' shapes - almost parallel legs... Love the way they're connected by the girl's arm, and the lighting - love how it plays off their muscles. I also like how dynamic the photo is, how you've frozen motion.... I can imagine the before and after to this picture. (Showed this to my sis and she said Wow too!)

Thanks Felicity, I'm so glad you and your sister like it! I've known Jeff for about 12 years and he's always wonderful to work with. In general dancers are great subjects - very focused and dedicated and usually with a deep love of their art.
Nice you noticed the connection the arm gives this, it was sort of key so they would be literally and figuratively connected! I actually cheated a little on the lines though. I'll tell you some time so you'll know what a scammer I am too haha

We did this about a dozen times with small variations is pose and timing, so of course we liked different things from different photos. This was a clear favorite, but Kassi wasn't all the way up on toe and her arabesque wasn't as high, at least at the moment I took the shot. No problem. I just copied her hips and legs from the photo were they looked best, and pasted them onto this one

LOL I never would have known her hips and legs were from another picture!!! But I do agree that having similar pictures would enable you to replace the not-so-good parts with better ones.
Plus, I noticed that you've enabled the picture to be sold as a print... Do prints actually sell that often on DA? =o My pictures have never really been print-worthy (since I first joined DA on my main account)/I've never turned them into prints, so it's always something I wonder about
