It is no surprise that in creating a piece about the Armenian Genocide, this apparition appeared briefly in the oil paint...

(To explain....the technique involves wiping off oil paint from an underlying image. In the process of doing this, the lighter layer underneath shows through.
This image appeared with only two or three wipes of the oil and formed what you see without any intention of doing so.)

In many ways I wanted it to stay. But it couldn't. I had to keep working. So I captured this ephemeral little face of anguish before it gave way to the final piece.
It's this kind of thing that reminds me that I am not in charge of my art.
