There is something so philosophical about the church made of bones and in a way I think it emphasizes more than ever the concept of mortality and what spirituality means. To be confronted by the dead in such an artistic way shows not only that one must confront ones own concepts about death but also that our little time, our little bone frames are like this church...perhaps housing a spirit within (a concept at least).
The greenish tinge really works for me because it is such a color of decay as much as it is of life (one can simply look to molds, the changes of metal to tarnish, and even the putrid coloring of matter becoming part of earth ...like the color of puddles mixed with leaves and dark clouds in autumn).
