Description
I left her in MontmarteFortune tellers and mother Mary on the walls
'Two children for you' the madame said
in four years time
and pressed a stone into my hand for protection
though none of it I asked for
Burdened with ghosts of unwritten days
I walked to disposess myself of things half seen
children without names
from a wife who refuses to exist
and the sky crumbled to weeping
over the Champs Elysee
From my bag a tiny amateur camera...
It bore the name of a dead friend
that came to me as a gift in the desert
I didn't realize it then
but tomorrow
two years to the day
would mark the anniversary
So as I crossed the Passerelle Solferino
and the lightning tore the clouds
over the Place de la Concorde
to it was added a tiny little flash
for remembering
and for a moment
the day was filled with angels...
Paris - October 20th 2004
For David
Sorry I didn't remember.... till now

Then it's purpose has been fulfilled....thank you.
My friend's name was David and I didn't realize till I posted the photo and checked the dates that the day after I shot the photo was the 2nd anniversary of his death....and it was his camera I shot with....
Life is inexplicable and bittersweet....

Oooh I love this. It looks like something from a nightmare, and the raindrops looks like shimmering stars in the scene. The scene is so misty right in the middle especially that I just want to climb into the photo and explore. Very nice.

Thank you....there wasn't actually much thought behind it at the time. It was that kind of faux night and the rain was so hard that I didn't dare break out my big camera, so I used my little plastic one....

That's a rather unusual inner picture of Paris. And your text is haunting.

Taken with the sketched context given in the description, the little image evokes a deluge of emotion. It takes heartfelt art to do that, thanks for sharing.
