I would take on AK, that the best gun ever made in my opinion, I would just ad an AR-16 magazine adapter to 1. have compatible ammo with the rest of the NATO countries and 2. to have a faster mag change

I love my AK, but it's main weakness is it's magazine release.
It needs two hands, while the AR15/M16/M4 needs just one.
The AK magazine does not go in as fast and comes out much slower than most modern weapons.
This is one of the reasons why those using AK's tend to be killed fighting people with AR/M16/M4 rifles historically.
I Vietnam the US soldier killed over 10 comunists for every US soldier killed. The Afgan's with US supplied M16's against the Soviets out gunned the soviets in small arms battles.
Yes I know the AK is not as accurate, but I feel the ability to quickly reload is of vital importance in a firefight.
I've experimented with a solution (as have others) on adding an extension to the mag release so the added leverage could allow quicker reloads.
The greatness of the AK is not as a combat rifle, but as a survival rifle. Easy to build, easy to maintain and easy to fix.
The AK will work anywhere in any condition and work everytime.

yep, AK is a survival rifle, but it also pack a devastating punch and the firing rate is pretty fast too
