Description they are giants of the deep that have been hidden for centuries from our eyes. only surfacing very rarely every a few milennias to mate, away from the comforting heat of the deep sea thermal vents.

but this time, as they had risen. something's different. the earth is no longer covered in ice. in fact, it seems to be melting, and getting warmer.
more and more start to surface across the globe. they only have one priority in their mind. to breed as many of themselves as possible and fill this new, warmer earth with their kind

One could learn much from your work! Indeed, the oceans are still an amazing frontier.

Regarding the surface life of the crabs, I imagine they would have evolved some form of oxygen storage to survive above land. Arthropods remain relatively small above water due to the rate of oxygen absorption through their exoskeleton. If they were able to "breathe" more from their environment, their size would only be limited by the amount of oxygen they intake and their own mass.

Wow! Nice depth, love the color palette,Β  and I especially love your use of textures~! Is that rust on the foreground crab? Very clever! How long did this take you real-time?

thankyou! ^^

and yup, i did use some rust images on the foreground crab after attempting and failing a few times with other textures : p
so far you're the only one who spotted that ; p

i also use other photos and textures, like the background crab, i used a photo of a giant isopod to give the segmented-look on the crab's body parts. other than that, the tiny island is also originally a photo i cropped and painted on top of.

it took me two days to make this one because i still have to deal with school (though even if there's no school i'd probably still end up finishing it in a few days because i'm lazy XD)

I hope nothing like those guys exist in our ocean depthsΒ

I'm almost certain something like these guys DOES exist in our oceans...it's just WAAAAAAAAAY smaller.

well, we've only explored 5% of the ocean, so i won't be surprised if somewhere out there there's a hundred year-old giant deep sea lobster roaming around slowly in the ocean floor : p
i mean, those guys continue to grow bigger as long as they're still alive, so if there's one that manages to live long enough, they'd probably be gigantic.

though if they do exist, i guess, they might not be able to reach the surface since the pressure here would be drastically different.
