The radiation battered homeworld of the onsians orbits fairy close to its energetic, F type star, Hatem, at just 133 million kilometers away. As such, it lies barley within the inner edge of the star's habitable zone and is subjected to the full brunt of Hatem's solar wind. With a similar size and mass to Earth, Rahnnik would, in a better position, be garden world, but as it is it barley categorizes as habitable to most species in the galaxy, even for the native onsians, its biosphere is a shadow of other life bearing worlds.

The planet is also torn by extreme tidal stress from its two fairy large moons, Shanath and Najafili, both orbiting fairy close to their parent (17,000 km and 31,000 km respectively, both being larger than 500 km). Their combined tidal stress on the planet's interior cause above average volcanic activity for a planet its size and age, which cause numerous volcanic ranges to crop up on its surface that spill large amount of noxious gases into the atmosphere, further driving its environment into the extreme. One of the planet's most noticeable features is the Great Traegar, a massive super volcanic hot spot that visible from space which for the last 100,000 years has been active and spewing out lava constantly.

Due to its environment, few sapients other than its natives call Rahnnik home, with only other equally hardy species emigrating to it permanently. Even so, as the capital of the Onsian Empire, Rahnnik sees a massive flux of traffic. As such, the local governments have gone to great lengths to ensure a minimal level of comfort for visitors, especially for tourists coming to see the Maht'Ay every five years. During the five day long Maht'Ay, up to 10 million alien visitors flood the capital of Rudana, but even this is little compared to the approximate 300 million individuals that year round come to and go, making Rahnnik the most traffic heavy world in the Milky Way galaxy, and, despite its harsh conditions, one of the riches as well.
