Description For Gnome-3.14
DeLorean has both light and dark gtk3 themes and a matching light gtk2 theme.  The package also includes a dark gtk3 theme and matching dark gtk2 theme known as DeLorean-Dark.

Donations are appreciated, Thank You for your support!

*UBUNTU users:  Ubuntu uses Gtk3.12/3.10 currently.  This theme is built for Gtk3.14, it will not work on UBUNTU! You will have to be patient for Ubuntu to move up to 3.14 within the next 6+ months.   If you cant wait, try Fedora, or Arch.  Thank You

**Chromium browser has light text on white background in DeLorean-Dark, I can't fix this.  I suggest using one of the provided Google Chrome.crx theme files.

INCLUDES
  • Light and Dark Gtk2&3 themes, plus Dark Gtk 2&3 themes for DeLorean-Dark

  • gnome-themes-standard-3.14*(adwaita engine)
  • pixbuf-engine or the gtk(2)-engines package
  • gtk-engine-murrine-0.98.2(or newer)

INSTALATION
  • Download the DeLorean Theme package from the top of this page.
    Unzip the archive, and copy the DeLorean and DeLorean-Dark folders to '/usr/share/themes/' for system-wide installation, or to '~/.themes' for individual use installation.
  • Arch Linux & Manjaro
    Install from Arch Linux AUR
    If using yaourt, type in terminal: yaourt -S delorean
Available for Ubuntu 15.04/14.10/14.04/12.04/Linux Mint 17.x/17/13
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/themes
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install delorean-dark

Ubuntu Vivid 15.04
  • To use with Ubuntu you must open the Delorean or/and the Delorean-Dark folders '/gtk3.0/gtk-contained.css'
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the document and uncomment 'ubuntu_styles.css and unity.css'
  • use Unity TweakTool to choose Delorean or Delorean-Dark theme.
  • Built from the daily build Feb 18 2015

Ubuntu Software Center
  • Backup the original folder and name it 'software-center.backup:
  • sudo cp -a /usr/share/software-center /usr/share/software-center.backup
  • Install This assumes the Delorean themes are installed to '/usr/share/themes':
  • sudo cp /usr/share/themes/A Delorean Theme/Software-Center/softwarecenter.css /usr share/software-center/ui/gtk3/css/softwarecenter.css && sudo cp /usr/share/themes/A Delorean Theme/ubuntu-software-center/stipple.png /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/art/stipple.png
  •
  • Start/Restart software-center.
  • To revert changes sudo rm -r /usr/share/software-center && mv /usr/share/software-center.backup /usr/share/software-center

FirefoxThis is a set of patches to make firefox work better with dark themes.  It is not a Firefox theme.
  • Unpack the DeLorean-theme package and locate the chrome folder.  Next go to '~/.mozilla/firefox/xSomeNumbers.default'.
  • If there is no 'chrome' folder, just copy and paste the one from inside the DeLorean theme folder
  •
  • If there is a 'chrome' folder, merge its contents with the DeLorean 'chrome' folder.
  • Restart Firefox to apply the theme.  This theme depends on DeLorean being in use to work properly!

  • User Profile You may also desire to create a new user-porfile for the DeLorean theme since it hard codes its appearance.  To do this simply open firefox with a trailing '-p', for example: firefox -p.  A small gui will appear.  Choose create profile and follow the instructions.  If you would like this gui to appear at every start-up(recommended) so you can choose you profile.  Un-tick 'Don't ask at startup', or you can always start the app with the '-p' to change profiles again.

Google Chrome
  • The Chrome themes are located within the theme files.
  • Simply drag and drop them onto Google Chrome and choose to apply theme

Very nice theme, the dark greyscales I think is more relaxing to the eyes than bright themes, thanks for sharing!!!!

I think you forgot to write something in the ./thunderbird/README file
All this is for the Dark theme only, isn't it?
(As I couldn't see the contacts list when I opened the Chat tab)
Anyway I think Thunderbird looks quite nice without all this (I'm not using the Dark theme).
The arrows showing collapsable folders in the Folder Tree are a bit too pale, but it's not a big deal.
I only needed to put this to "userChrome.css" to make "From:" and "Subject:" in Message Pane Header more visible:
#msgHeaderView .headerName
{ color: #c0c0c0 !important; }

Thanks a lot: I don't how I missed this and tried to use DeLorean-3.16 on Ubuntu 15.04 instead
I saw only one minor issue: Synaptic package manager toolbar background being partly the usual background-image, partly the fallback bgcolor. I wonder if this can be fixed :\)

Good stuff as always, but there's one very annoying bug on Ubuntu 15.04 using DeLorean Dark 3.14 - when I open a new Terminal window it immediately shrinks down to the size of close button, any attempts to expand it again fail.

Same with the non-Dark one here, but I've found a workaround.
I think the cause of this problem might be some custom tweaks already implemented.
This is how I've had a normal terminal screen again:
1) Right click the small terminal screen you can see, and select "Profiles" from the menu.
2) Enable "Default" if not marked already, and then select "Profile Preferences"
3) General: Initial terminal size: Reset
This should do it

On second thought, it seems this doesn't quite solve anything. It happens on and off. Simply closing the Terminal window and opening again often gives a proper window, but to repeat any time again ; -)

Thank you for your work on this; LOVE the Dark window borders and controls. I see that there is a light Delorean theme for Cinnamon, but no dark theme in the zip package? Any chance of a Delorean-Dark desktop theme as well for Cinnamon?

Awesome as always, thanks!

Just a couple notes with the FF chroming:
- Autosuggest/autocomplete dropdowns have a dark background and foreground s7.postimg.org/h33y2516j/Scree…
- The find box is light background and foreground s30.postimg.org/wmqaclxwh/Scre…
- (not as important.. looks odd but it's readable) some dropdowns are still dark background and light foreground s28.postimg.org/oca9ifne5/Scre…

Its very difficult to do anything about the above mentioned problems as they appear to be on webpages, I could be wrong.  It looks like its mixing the themes text color with Firefox's background.
Try opening the userContenet.css and changing the text color in 'input' and or 'textarea' at the top of the file.   I'll keep thinking on it.

well... it looks a bit better by removing everything and only having:

userContents.css:

input, textarea, select {
    -moz-appearance: none !important;
    background-color: white;
    color: black;
}

a[class="file"],
a[class="dir"],
a[class="symlink"] {
    color: #2EB8E6 !important;
}

a:visited[class="file"],
a:visited[class="dir"],
a:visited[class="symlink"] {
    color: #FF6666 !important;
}

But that doesn't seem like it solves the problem with drop-menu.

true it doesn't solve the background color problem, but at least the foreground stays light so it's still readable.

Beautiful theme! thank's for sharing it

When launching applications from a terminal some warnings are printed and they seem easy to fix:

light version :
(gedit:12085): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-contained.css:4205:28: Not a valid image

(gedit:12085): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-contained.css:4712:37: 'theme_fg_color' is not a valid color name

dark version:
(gedit:4585): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-contained.css:2795:27: `alpha' is not a valid unit.

This theme is nice, but the font-color of chrome address bar is strange.  I am using the dark theme

You will need to download a dark chrome theme or make one yourself.  There is nothing I can to to repair this behavior.

I should mention in DeLorean-Dark-9 their is a version of Chromium theme that matches pretty well.  Its not exact, but close enough.  You might want to give it a try.
