Thanks, AA! The final version should look very much like this conept... I just need to find those light rods. I designed this assuming that I'd have the product available to me but I haven't found them in months.

Most of it IS made. This is 99% photograph. I just need to add the red dot, the yellow lines, and the lights. The rest is finished.

I got pretty busted up hands so I try to machine everything, just to save pain. That said, CAD and a scroll saw goes a long way.
You got got one steady hand and one heck of an eye!

More eye than hand, I'm afraid. Most of what I do is Found Art. I collect the parts and arrange them in fun and interesting ways. The only thing I machine or make myself is the wood, and hardly even that if I can get away with it.

I fail miserably at found art (which so much of Steampunk seems to be, still so new to all of this). I can't stand the thought of not being able to make something again, let along the huge search to find that oh so right part. Though it is quite limiting have to scratch fabricate so much, I hope that as my skill increases, so will the dimensions of the work that I do. Found art is so awesome for that, it really can grow in so many directions, adding so much dimensions.
Can't wait to see the completed piece
