A lil series about the smash bros characters evolution through the 4 and a half game series thus far in the franchise. starting of course with the original 12, with 4 fighters per page through the 4 games. or in the current case, the games they were actually in. since now we're in the melee veterans.

Now we're into the next melee fighters: Young link/toon link, Falco, Ice climbers, and Mr Game and Watch. We shall explore how these 4 have come through the 4 games thus far. This is just how I view their evoltuions, as well as some info and experience i found through playing the games.

The little link who turned into a jerk

The first smash has only one link, melee introduced his past self into the game, bringing a quicker and more efficient fighter into the game, equipped with fire arrows and a multi hit up B, young link was a more looked at choice in melee. By brawl young turned into a cartoon. Toon link came into the game, and he was annoying to face! but by the 4th installment of the franchise, Toon link was the only one who got nothing from the new installment, ganondorf and link got more power, zelda and shiek got new moves, and toon link got nothing. Toon link now has to share the power struggle with the other hyrule warriors! and he is not happy about it XD

Falco, the rival to the fox

Melee introduced falco to the ring, and despite his moveset being the same as fox's he was still just as used as fox was, which was a lot... Brawl gave falco a bit more of an edge compared to fox, with better stun power and a down b that can be used for more than just defence. though by smash 4, I've honestly not seen a single falco when playing online, not in recent memory anyways, falco survives longer than fox does in practice matches but i just don't see falco used anymore, its as if the starfox characters really have gone the way of the dodo in smash.

Rip The ice climbers

This duo appeared in melee as the retro representatives, winning over the excitebike as the rep (cause really why would we need a character who only rides a bike all the time when we get wario later). By brawl the ice climbers become a niche fighter duo, mainly used with the strategy of chain grabs, a specialty of some characters in brawl (like falco, wario and even king dedede on some occasions). Popo and Nana were really good at doing this, despite it taking a ton of practice. But this is the last we see of these two. With the presence of 2 games for smash 4, the ice climbers worked fine in the WiiU version, but the 3DS team could not get them to work, wanting an equal roster for smash 4, popo and nana were cut out, their only hope now rests in the smash ballot, which from the looks of things, brawl will likely be their last game for now.

Mr game and watch, the flat master of the unexpected

Mr game and watch wasn't really a strong fighter in melee, he had a very situational moveset. By brawl though he is a terror in the right hands, one of my least favorite fighters to go up against, especially in the hands of a close friend of mine. hence the inside joke in its panel. By the 4th game, its hard to tell how mr game and watch has been, he isn't used as often as he could be. But take it from me, his power is real!

So yea that's all, the next one will be the transition between melee and brawl, but will only have 3.
