This impressive island fortress in Crete was built by the Venetians in 1579, to guard their vital trading ports. It's more famous for its unpleasant role as a leper colony, which it still was until the 1950s. This shot is trying to evoke a bit of that original Venetian power, which is usually forgotten.The first of about six shots, I think. When the others will appear I don't know...

Really well done. The details of the building are crisp and clear yet the sky hasn't blown out (as can usually happen). And in fact the clouds just give it a more 'impressive' feel to the shot.

The composition of this shot is great! Everything seems placed strategically for this shot. The focus is also great-- there is ample clarity for all of the details in the textures to come out.
