Description
A couple of castaways find themselves stranded on an island infested with highly virulent lichen-like fungus which ends up covering entirety of their bodies before long.
"I saw something nodding between the oars. I thought of a sponge—a great, grey nodding sponge— The oars continued to ply. They were grey—as was the boat—and my eyes searched a moment vainly for the conjunction of hand and oar. My gaze flashed back to the—head. It nodded forward as the oars went backward for the stroke. Then the oars were dipped, the boat shot out of the patch of light, and the—the thing went nodding into the mist." <./i>

The director of the original 1954 Godzilla actually directed a movie called "matango" that's essentially a loose adaptation of "the voice in the night"

Primeval is a show about portals in time opening up to prehistoric times and releasing prehistoric creatures into modern times but I think he's referring specifically to an episode where instead of the usual creatures from earths past the main characters faced a giant eyeless humanoid bat monster from the future.

That last part sounds like something from the 50s radiation movies

On the Smithsonian channel (134 in my area) they run the same commercials over & over, every day, every hour. One is for Humira. And this, like too many, spends more time warning about side effects than how the medicine can help, In every humira ad they warn against use in fungus-prone areas.
Humira treats psoriasis by weakening the immune system.
I also hate commercials that run 2 minutes Federal legislation is needed to limit commercials to 20-30 seconds.
