I'm guessing the real threat comes from the recently deceased, instead of the ones suffering from rigor mortis.
Along with being ancient and making its approach on a victim obvious, here's what can deter it:
-holding your breath
-Ba Gua or yin yang sign/symbol
-old written taoist parchment
-rice hulls
-beans
-dropping your pocket change
if it's not though, some objects made from a peach tree, some fire and a stonemason's awl seems to do the job.

Its a wacky Hong Kong martial arts horror comedy with musical interludes(!). The vampires are manageable with the papers on their heads but when they come off they go crazy hopping around.
The rogue Vampire is pretty tough but the Taoist Priest hero has lots of special weapons and talismans. Saw it 25 years ago on bootleg VHS, lol!
