Description I finally got around to taking pictures! ^_^ yay!
The lighting i have right now is REALLY yellow x_x sorry about that. I messed around trying to correct it and just made a mess XP (the table is actually white XD so yeah... the purples, blues, and clears look a little extra off)

So I've been messing around with a clear resin. I'm still all new to it, so there are a lot of mistakes XP always fun...
The colors i got were red, blue, sparkle (XD) and glow in the dark. Any chalky looking junk is either wax (to polish... and wasn't worth it) or sparkles XD (or resin i haven't trimmed and sanded off)

1. To make these kinds i make a pink inner nail thing, and after that is all set up i sink it into the larger nail mold and fill it. This one i set in and all the little air bubbles built up and pushed to one side (o_o' and messed with it XP bummer.

2. This one turned out pretty well. It got a rim of air bubble, but other then that, pretty nice. The inner pink is glow in the dark ^_^

3. Clear sparkly with purple inside. One of my best ones I think.

4. Clear with glow in the dark purple. Since the glow powder is inherently greenish, mixing that with purple looks... kinda ugly XP But i wanted to see how it would look.

5. Clear with a sparkle blue inside. (and like many, the tip didn't cast all the way. I just never sanded it into a point)

6. Just a solid purple. I tried doing a different way of mixing, and i got a lot less bubbles ^_^ This is one of my more recent castings, so... many others have funky bubbles still XP the tip looks like it is a little more clear then the rest, but it could be just because it is the smallest part and has less pigment ^_^

7. These ones I tried to make ones that didn't have a special inside, but were carried by their own color. This one has a clear sparkle tip and a blue sparkle base. i set the mold at an angle so the tip color would have a nice angle. I like these kind ^_^

8. blue sparkle tip with deep red base. This one i set up flat to see how it would look. The red didn't have enough hardener mixed in to balance the dye so its a little sticky XP boo. (i was going to see what would happen if i used a sealer on it but the weather has been way to cold for it... it wouldn't set up either XD)

9. This one had a huge air bubble in the tip. i sanded it into a nice shape though i think ^_^ this ne was clear tip flat with a pink base.

10. Thought i would try more then one color. This one was poured with the same mix from #8, so it too is sticky ;_; bummer. I keep forgetting and touch it... not fun XP bleh.

11. I thought i would try tipping it in a color and slanting it. The mold i use is blue so i didn't see that i had some blue running all the way down the bottom. Fun none the less. The only bummer is this one didn't haven enough hardener (or get mixed as well... i think that is really the case) so the tip is soft and i can't really sand it. The base is just clear ^_^

12. my first attempt at all of this XD it got a huge air bubble in the tip and there the inner part was sunk into it. It glows in the dark. I touched all over it when i pulled it out of the mold so it very dull XP oops again. Oh well... its just for me anyway XD .... poor awful claw.... makes me so happy though.

13. These are what i cast to go inside the big claws ^_^ This one is sparkly blue. I get a lot of these left over because it takes the resin one day to fully dry. I pour one to two of the inside and outside molds at once. So the big molds take more time since i can color them weirdly or sink an inside into them. this gives me time to cast another inside, but not another outside.... *rambles* Anyway! the sparkly blue ones look a lot nicer in person i think ^_^ (and i'm not even someone who loves the color blue!)

14. a deep red sparkly one. This time it set up XD learning is fun!

15. a nice pink with glow in the dark ability.

16. a sparkly medium pink. I made this one while testing how many drops of pink would give me a color i liked. That stuff is hard to measure XP *shakes fist at it*

17. These ones are a different mold all together. After getting a little more familiar with resins and how much i sucked at it, i made a more catlike claw. I included the fleshy outside of the nail in this one too. I was going to on the first claw but got too impatient and cast it without XP This one is a clear sparkly tip with a red base. It got a bubble in the tip cause i was sleepy and didn't work on it to be sure it didn't have one. oops.

18. This one is sadness XP I tried to mix all three ideas, an inside and two tone outside. The tiny inside i made for it got bumped and WAY crooked. I didn't think it was that bad when i poured the blue base the next day (i would have had to pour it anyway... it would have been a pain to get it out of the mold half filled) It was disappointing after three days that it didn't look more awesome. I don't think I will try this way again unless I need too XP (or make a different shaped inside for this mold) ... but i'm stubborn... i'll probably make it work someday.

19. My fist casting of this mold. i was pouring the tip clear... then had some left over.... and mixed some red and tried to dump it carefully on top. XD not.... a good idea. Well I got to test out the mold! so it wasn't the worst thing X3 (and i learned not to do that. Yay learning again.

20. This is one is from my large mold. I did a tip pour and thought i would see if i could make a design by poking in some color. It looked like it was going well when i left it to set up. To my surprise the next day it looked all swirly. Fun, but wasn't my goal XD I was able to pull it out so I didn't cast it all the way. Cast a nice tip too. I also learned to let the mold release sit for a day to evaporate. That seems to help. also using a plastic thing to stir. (I thought that wasn't causing as much of a problem as it was XP) yay... more learning XP

21. leftovers XD whee.

So yeah... the idea of making a light durable part of a halloween costume turned into this XD Hope you have enjoyed.

can you imagine making teeth the same way? X3 You'll be surprised with the results.

X3 teeth would be a lot of fun (and work, but fun i think XD) I've never used a non-opaque pigment other then the glitter (XD)

Teeth are a little tricky, since they look creepy too small or goofy too big for whatever they are made for. So just making them for no real purpose would probably be a little difficult. Might have to try it in the future anyway XD *shakes fist at you for planting seeds of ideas*

Your work looks really lovely! Do you cast your own teeth and claws?

Yeah, I hand cast everything except my noses. Those I sculpt.

Who says teeth have to be white? Try making a set of glow in the dark and you'll go far. Just make a mold off of a real jaw set or from a skull.

Thank you hun!

awesome. Noses look fun to make too ^__^

XD some glow in the dark teeth could be fun. Guess i'd have to make a mask for them or something *has been eyeballing mask tutorials for so long* i love the idea of costume, so maaaaybe some day. *gonna have to look up the price of materials and start saving* x_x'

Did you like the tutorial you were using. I'm a big fan of lightweight + durable costumes, and they way you made yours looks like it is both of those things. (the way you made Kix, it looks like you have tried several different ways!)

I don't have access to real teeth (i would think they would be too tiny right?) but there is a wildlife museum I visit, and could probably bug them into letting me take some photographs/draw some fun critter teeth. mmmm might have to do thaaaat.....

*rambles*

I use coyote for almost all of my heads.

For my foam heads it was all trial and error, no tut. But for the resin masks I used 's tutorial.
