Purpose

Neverland exists to ease children's souls into the afterlife. It's solitary purpose in life is to play with the children Grim sends it until they are appeased. When they are, the souls go off to rejoin the cycle.

Neverland is a bundle of laughs whose sole purpose is to make others smile. He's a bright, bubbly little guy who is always down for a good time, even if he can be a bit cheeky about it.

Curious

"What'chu got there?"

Curiosity killed the cat as they say, though Neverland doesn't seem to know that. Because of what he is and the nature of his existence, Neverland loves to explore everything: even situations that are a little too dangerous for the average 'mon.

Inhuman (er, inpokemon)

"I don't get why you're so upset. I didn't say anything wrong!"

Neverland has a lot of difficulty understanding social cues and norms. Things like 'death' don't exist in his realm, and so he can really struggle with empathizing with others when they're grieving. But even smaller things will trip him up sometimes. He has to be taught things like why children with peanut allergies can't eat peanuts, or why taking a cake from someone else as a prank is a bad thing.

He doesn't mean to be insensitive or hurtful. He's just, well, like a child. He doesn't know any better.

History

Neverland is a realm created from a shard of Mother's light that was gifted to Grim. Grim then gifted that little shard to the first Head Messenger in Sanctuary, starting a long tradition of Head Messengers inheriting Neverland. Though, they mostly 'inherited' him through dying, and Grim having to forcefully connect his weirdo imagination realm kid to a new soul. Neverland started out as a blank slate but, over the course of several connections: began forming a more distinct 'persona' so that it could interact with its inhabitants and better serve them.

Puck was Neverland's last connection. Mimi is his newest one. If he takes on a partner after her, he might change appearances again. :>

Extras/Fun Facts

- Yes, Neverland was Mimi's "Purity voice" this entire time. :>

- Mimi's actual Purity voice was delineated in bold, . If you go through the old stories post Main Quest 7: anything written in italics was Neverland. Not the Purity. ;3

- Whenever Neverland connects to a new Head Messenger, he loses the memories from his previous lives. These memories still exist inside the greater realm, and Neverland can access them if he really tries (through something akin to deja vu or instinct). It's thought that Neverland adapted this mock reincarnation cycle to better understand what dying felt like. His conversations with Mimi proved that it didn't really work.

- To contrast that last bullet: Neverland has access to the memories of whoever he is connected to.

- When connecting to a new partner, Neverland needs to undergo a 'sync' period. This is essentially that "reset" process. If the sync isn't successful, it can have detrimental effects on his new host's health. He's a bit parasitic in that regard.

- A successful sync, though, can grant the wielder a lifelong friend. :>

- - It was Mimi's eventual belief in herself that finally allowed Neverland to complete the sync and express his true power. We love some cliche symbolism in this household.

- Puck's sync wasn't successful. It's one of the reasons why Puck was so 'unhinged.'

- In canon, Neverland is simply treated as Mimi's "imaginary friend." This is to smooth over any inconsistencies with Neverland being a noncanon NPC and Mimi's mythical fairy typing being a canon power. XD

- Tl;dr: Neverland in canon is treated as an imaginary friend Mimikyu that Mimi can make 'real.' Most canon Pokemon assume that Neverland is a result of Mimi's fairy powers making her imagination real, not that Mimi's imagination becoming real is a result of Neverland's power. It's all a matter of how folks interpret it!

- (Having said that, if you want your PCs to know the truth, feel free. I'm not the canon police lol.)

- He can't manifest imagination in the real world or anything. Though he can throw a mean sucker punch.
