Summary

Emilia awakens in...a hospital? It's not a Bitrary hospital too. This is a fully flesh-out, modern big city hospital complete with medicines and junk. Confused, Emilia nevertheless realizes that she's been duped and she's pissed. She's about to cause mayhem when she realizes that she's not alone. This hospital has patients! They all seem happy to see her, as if she's the first physician on the grounds since it was opened...

Emilia can't turn her back on patients, so she reluctantly starts to treat them. Her first patient is an Umbreon who was wounded by her family for evolving. She recounts a tale of nearly being beaten to death, but Palgius swooped in before she died. He then insisted that they play games! The Umbreon refused, and Palgius locked her in the hospital. Emilia is, understandably, upset.

Her next patient is another Umbreon who fought against Espeon in a war. He recounts his tale. A tale of war, battle, and strife. He was tossed aside from the battlefield by his brother, and ended up falling through one of Palgius's wormholes. He too vows to escape and return to the battlefield. Emilia is, understandably, upset.

The next patient is a deathly ill Elekid. Emilia treats the child, noting how young they are, and is understandably upset. She needs to find a potential temporary guardian for them. She settles on a relatively uninjured Sawsbuck. The Sawsbuck recounts a tale, just as all the others have. This tale is different, though. The Sawsbuck tells Emilia that Palgius actually saved those here. He brought them out of fatal life events and placed them into a realm where their wounds bled slowly, and they therefore never die (well, they do, but so slowly that it'll basically take an eternity). It's a messed-up method of thinking, but the Sawsbuck insists that Palgius did it to save them. He then tells Emilia about Hoogius, and says that Hoogius and Palgius had a fight. Hoogius is actually not Palgius's mediator, but Palgius still calls him a mediator out of habit.

Emilia can't get that. The bond between a mediator and a legendary is something sacred. To just break it like that...? But the Sawsbuck reassures her that Palgius and Hoogius are on good terms. They just saw that the relationship wouldn't work out. Hoogius, according to the Sawsbuck, is actually bringing Pokemon here to scout out a new Mediator for Palgius.

How much of that is real? How much is a lie? Emilia struggles to tell. Not everything made sense, but Emilia admits that the patients here all share a common backstory. So maybe, Palgius isn't evil. But then, what is he? He kept Markus against his will, and Emilia knows that Markus wouldn't just sit by and not explain the situation. Which means that Palgius purposefully kidnapped Markus. That doesn't match up.

Emilia comes to a conclusion. One that equally horrifies and shocks her.

Palgius is just...a kid.

He's a legendary as old as the universe with the mentality of a five-year-old.

So that's...that's not terrifying at all.

Emilia debates about what to do next, but before she can think of anything, she is forcibly ripped from the hospital along with all of her treated patients.
