Straight blade with a curved scabbard... is an odd design choice...
Also, the shading is all over the place and not very consistent. In many areas it takes away rather than complementing the image. The entire portrait might have looked better with flat colors. Even then there are still come confusing issues, such as: the line on Alpha's shoe which doesn't do much with defining any shape; the far arm on Alpha which looks like it could be an elbow or the end of a sleeve, and Kirb's shoes which have an odd interaction with the cuffs of the pants.
But again, the main issue really is the shading. It really seems like you put most the effort on Kirb's head, but most everywhere else is really flat rim shading/highlighting.

All of the shading is bad, all you do is awkwardly jump from one shade to another rather than smoothing it out like a gradient. Seriously, this picture looks awful because of it
You still have a wonky sense of perspective as I have no idea where the two characters are placed and how far away they are placed.
This is not an awful picture, but I look at stuff at this and I wonder why people consider you a great artist, when you continue to produce stuff like this and expect people to find it...well good or at least a good representation of your skills.

Firstly, check your aim. Reply to the piece and not to me; there's even less of a chance that he'll read otherwise.
Secondly, cell-shading isn't a bad thing. Awful cell-shading that doesn't create depth is bad.
