Description Seriously, what you see on the left is the only possible logical explanation of what this thing has come from in "Hellraiser: Revelations".
Can you imagine that - a Female Chatterer. Not too much inspiring, is it? Especially for Chatterer fans. I wonder how the film-makers failed to go further and didn't create Female Butterball, Male Cenobite (he would be called Nick instead of Nicoletta) and so on, you see what I mean.
Poor Chatty, he's the second most famous cenobite after Pinhead, but the moviemakers do to him whatever they please - in Hellbound he SUDDENLY turned out to be with eyes, in Inferno they cut everything below his waist and made poor invalid crawl on the floor, in Hellseeker and Deader appeared some kind of a cheap copy of him, who was so awfully made that the creators decided to make fun of it in Hellworld (in the fragment where one guy decided to scare his girlfriend with Chatterer's mask). And now THIS.
Did I already tell you, that I hate "Revelations"?

Yeah ironically I can actually see Chatterer mating with the twins... I mean... They do know how to "get under one's skin" in more ways than one.

I haven't seen Revelations just yet- though I got a copy of it a few days ago... I've been watching the movies with my girlfriend... I've liked the others, with varying degrees of interest.

Okay, in all of my Hellraiser stories (except for ones where these abominations get the crap beat out of them), I'm just going to pretend this thing doesn't exist. My character Kari especially wouldn't like it since she and Chatterer are supposed to fall each other later on in the story (in my head Canon, since Chatterer was a child [twelve or thirteen, based on how he looked when Channard killed him {damn you, Channard!}] when he was turned into a cenobite, he has child thoughts mixed in with the grown up thoughts, so I don't find it weird for his love interest to be around that age also, though they probably will have to wait for a long time before they can be intimate with each other, lest he test Pinhead's wrath).
Speaking of which, I need your opinion on what I should do next in the story (I meant to ask you a few days ago, but I made a mistake and replied to my own comment). In the next chapter, some time before she opens the box, Kari has another flashback about her tenth birthday. Here, it is revealed that the man that grabbed her was Chatterer disguised as one of the Harrowers (these are my go-to antagonists at the moment, even if I don't know much about them (from any comic series) besides what can be found on the Hellraiser wiki; random thugs that somehow know what the box does is far-fetched). The question is how he disguised himself. Did he shapeshift like Pinhead did in Hell on Earth when he tricked Joey into giving him the box, or did he take a leaf out of Frank's book and wear the Harrower's skin? I'm kind of leaning toward the latter since it's a callback to the first two Hellraiser films, but I don't want to seem like I'm trying too hard to be edgy (the M rating is mostly a precaution; I don't intend for anything explicit to happen, but the ideas are pretty dark). What do you think?

I'm sorry, your link is broken
the second option. in the comics of 90's in one of the stories, pinhead once skinned one guy and put it on, pretending to be him for some time.

Thanks. As for the link, it was supposed to go to a clip from JonTron. Just go to YouTube and search "so much nope" and you'll find it as one of the top results.
Oh, and it looks like I'm able to use the DeviantArt emoticons on the kindle again.Β  Β

Let's be fair to poor Chatterer. The reason he "suddenly" had eyes in Hellbound was because the poor actor could not see where he was going! (Though the in-story reason is that Leviathan rewarded him by restoring his sight.)

Oh, and that comes directly from Nicholas Vince, the actor who played the Chatterer, btw. They interviewed him in Coenobium #6 in 1991, Comic World #9 in November 1992, and Amazing Figure Modeller magazine #11 in 1998, and that's what he said about the eyes. Unfortunately, I don't remember which one of those three interviews is the one where he said that... and since Hellbound came out in 1988, it could have been any of the three. (If I were a betting man, I'd lay odds it was Coenobium.)

Ah your missing out on an experience. It's better than Hellworld at least, as it doesn't directly insult the fans. Indeed, Revelations is a clear love letter, with a passion for the mythology and it "gets" what the Cenobites are all about. it had potential to be one of the best. However, there's no avoiding this is squashed by no budget or support, literally they had no rehearsals and barely any takes. It's a shame, it could have been good... but for all the bad points, and it missing the mark, underneath it all it *does* get Hellraisers key themes.

I do not agree. I like more Hellworld than Revelations.

The-Hellbound-Web In reply to kirillkirillkirill [2012-02-11 17:06:17 +0000 UTC]

I cannot agree at all. Hellworld is as bad as it ever can get imo. The supposed Hellraiser fans in it, are brain dead idiots with awful dialogue... it's saying the fans are stupid cliche teens. When a film insults its fan base that's one thing. Where it has a twist that cannot possibly work that's another. An offensive abuse of everything Hellraiser stands for! (well directed though...)

I really cannot understand, what do you mean by "abuse of everything Hellraiser stands for".

The-Hellbound-Web In reply to kirillkirillkirill [2012-02-12 10:30:22 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's a teen slasher. Pinhead decapitates someone. We get young kids, making jokes, stupid ott gore, massive plot holes, and no sense of the adult approach to themes of desire, seduction, the gothic, transcendence, experience and pain/pleasure. Revelations at least attempts to address these.

I agree. After seeing Hellworld I thought the Hellraiser franchise was really dead. Revelations tried to go back to the original ideas but like you said lack of budget and timing really screwed this one up.

To me, they're equally bad, but for different reasons.Β  The sad thing is, they could have done something so much better with the money they had when making Hellworld.Β  Better yet, they should have pooled the money from both Deader and Hellworld and used it to make a single movie with an original, true-to-Hellraiser script and much better effects.
