Windows 7 Start Button Animator is a free portable tool that allows you to set an animated start button in Windows 7. You can set any animated gif image as your start button.

How to use:
  • Run the tool. You will now see an animated orb instead of the old unanimated orb.
  • Click on the orb icon in the system tray:
  • Click on Select Orb and choose your desired GIF animation.
  • Change Image Style to the style that best matches to your image.
  • Change Taskbar Position to the position of your taskbar.
  • If you want the tool to run everytime Windows starts up then select Run on Startup.
  • Click Apply.

    • Troubleshooting:
  • Why does the start button appear on top of a video?
    • Select Video Mode in the Settings.
  • When I close the tool, why the default unanimated orb is not there?
    • Click Restore Orb in the Settings.

    I love it!!!
    Can I tell a few suggestions?
    1. Add an option to change the orb during: nothing, hover and click? As in use 3 different gifs during these 3 different actions?
    2. Can you make it compatible during games?(It blinks during a game.) Or just make it disable when a game runs?

    2. Check "Video Mode" in the settings.

    Um when I put it on "Video Mode" it goes under my taskbar whenever I click it, it then stays that way.

    after closing this application.. to restore your old orb.. go to your windows folder.. there is a an explorer.exe backup made by this program.. take ownership of the current explorer.exe and rename it to something other than explorer. Then rename the explorer.exe backed up by the program to "explorer.exe" and the restart your explorer using task manager... your old orb is back online.. This appplication is good.. but maybe you should add a sizing option so that users can choose the orb size.. n could you please fix the restore orb button? it keeps giving me msg that "the requested item is not found"..

    Nope. But the displayed orb is of 54x54 pixels only.

    You can select any gif image. If you select the proper image style, it will look perfect.
