Description I just had to make a map, didn't I?

The world in Mirror, Mirror is called Chromia. There are two realms; the human realm and singlareu realm. It's like two sides of a coin, or a mirror.

:In the Singlareu Realm:

-Larua-
A huge continent to the north. It has many mountains, fresh water supplies, plains, forests, etc. It's a beautiful place untouched by humans where a large population of untamed singlareu live.

-Vulanos-
The second largest continent of Chromia. It has a wide range of climates and physical features. Every inhabitable, and unclaimed, area of it is annexed to the Lucidan kingdom. The Drago Archipelago is also considered part of Vulanos.

-Foren Strip-
A rather large piece of land that acts as a bridge between Larua and Vulanos. It is mostly made up of forests, plains, and small towns.

-Equ Islands-
Two large and close islands located on the equator. Both are mostly comprised of desert but still have rich supplies of crops, rivers, salt, and other profitable resources. They're also famous for their emphasis on militarism. They would be the two most powerful and rich nations in all of Chromia if they weren't always at war with one another. The Aulans, on the island Aulay, and the Suaggs, on the island of Suagg, are always fighting. Both were named after their respective founder; two bickering siblings with a grudge few even remember.

-Aulay-
One of the two Equ Islands; it is the westernmost island. Their main export is gold. They continually fight with their equally stubborn neighbors. All Aulans have spotted brown hair.

-Suagg-
The other Equ Island; this one to the east. They mainly export silver. Suaggs have a deep hatred for Aulans. Suaggs also have spotted hair but only they bear green eyes.

-Drago Archipelago-
A dragon shaped series of islands that is comprised mostly of rain forest. Although the land is disconnected, a unified tribe of warriors is found there. All born in the tribe bear slitted eyes.

-Lucidan Kingdom-
A prosperous and powerful nation with powerful nationalism and pride and a diverse culture. The current ruler is King Conleth with his singlareu, Aestus. They are aligned with the tribe of the Drago Archipelago. Both nations come to the others aid if they agree with their intentions.

:In the Human Realm:

-Larua-
Larua in the human realm is anything but uninhabited. No grays live there, as the mountains that are lined up on the border between Larua and the Foren strip are impossible to scale. But there lies a powerful kingdom there all the same.

-Palian Kingdom-
The kingdom that lies on the continent of Larua in the human realm. It is only consisting of their royal family and the grieves that are somehow servants of the Palian king. Not much is known about them but they are associated with evil deeds.

-Golden City-
A glorious and vast city in the human realm’s Vulanos that was established as a safe haven for Varia in the human realm. The people there are peaceful and focus only on their growing advancements. Every citizen is equal and free.

That's fine, I've been rather busy too. School just started and everything. All my teachers say is how much work I'm going to have to do...

I've been pretty good myself. I played and beat FFT: WotL recently. It was really awesome. I'm so sad I beat it though, but that's what happens with good games.

Ah, a world map! I really like the design of it, especially those islands at the bottom right. If you don't mind, could you explain more about Aulans and Suagg? I'm somewhat confused by your description; is the human realm this entire map, and the singlareu realm also the entire map, just on different "planes", if you will? Or are they split up within this world map?

Thank you, I'm glad you like it!

What more would you like to know about the Aulans and Suaggs? Anything specifically? =3

Yep, you got the right idea with the "planes" thing. That's a better word for it.

You're welcome! Hm, since I don't know much at all about them, how about a general summary? What are their abilities, and such? Anything you'd like to say.

I see. How do Singlareu or humans travel from one realm to another, assuming that's possible?

Kite-Knight In reply to NamiLoveLess [2010-08-27 19:53:14 +0000 UTC]

Hmm...what to say... They're not the nicest of people (in general of course). They devote their lives toward fighting a never ending war against the opposite tribe. Although the reason for their fighting is somewhat lost (their founders were siblings that fought a lot, and something big happened between them) the tribes still hold that anger for one another. They have a high sense of militarism because of this and constantly have people from their large populations fight as warriors. Sometimes they capture enemies from the other tribe and force them to work as slaves.

Was that good? Anything else you'd like to know?

Oh, well, it used to be that they couldn't travel between realms. But there was an imbalance at one point and the "mirror" (cause it's kind of like a mirror is in between them) started the slowly deteriorate. The "cracks" or "breaks" in the mirror results in travel between the realms. There's also a girl whose ability is to force a entrance to the opposite realm.

Ah! That's a very interesting history they have. It's like one of those myths you'd hear about. How significant is this history to the narrative? Are there any exceptions?

Oh, okay. Is the "mirror" watched by anyone, like a guardian or sorts? Does anyone ever want to repair the cracks? How important is this girl? This all sounds very interesting.

Thank you so much for you're interest! It's always greatly appreciated!

I'm glad it sounds like a myth, that's always a good thing. I haven't gotten up to the part of the narrative when these tribes are introduced, but if things go as I intend at the moment, you won't hear all that much of them in Mirror, Mirror. It's a major plot point of the prequel (I have yet to figure out completely, mind you). That's because those siblings (the founders) are characters and the major grudge is explained.

I suppose it is a bit important in the first book because one of the main characters' life is heavily affected by it. Getting into that, there are exceptions. One of the main characters was the offspring of a forbidden love between a Suagg and an Aulan (that's why he has both spotted brown hair and green eyes, inclusive features of both tribes). As you can imagine, that didn't work out too well for anybody. It's a sad story.

Something happens in the first book where a guardian of the mirror is established. It appears to correct any possible imbalances. Other than that, there are some people who constitute themselves as guardians of the mirror. The Palian king wants to repair the cracks by returning Chromia to its natural order.

The girl (she's really more of a woman by the first book) is kind of important. Because cracks appearing is sort of up to chance, she acts as bridge between the realms. She also the mother of another main character (although her memories are gone so they don't recognize one another).

Wow, that's a lot of information! It gives me a much better understanding of the narrative; thank you very much. I wasn't aware that there was a prequel. Is Mirror, Mirror a multi-novel narrative, then?

A sad story? I already pity the characters involved. How does he feel about his parentage? Does anyone ever accept him?

What do you mean by "its natural order"? Where is the mirror located?

Ah. Do the mother and child ever realize their relation to each other?

Kite-Knight In reply to NamiLoveLess [2010-08-29 23:47:15 +0000 UTC]

lol, my apologies for the information overload! It's a good thing in terms of understanding, but I don't want to make your head explode.

Oh, I plan to make others. I haven't any of them though. But I do have some things planned out in order to make things canon. XD

I feel like I give everyone a sad back story. But, in my opinion, Harmut's is the most depressing. It has a somewhat happy ending though. As you can imagine, he's not too happy about his parentage at first. Later though, his parentage seems more to him as a symbol of unity between two opposing forces, and he comes to accept it. No one will accept him on either of the islands. However, there are people that do accept him; one man in particular who takes care of him after freeing him from his not too favorable life. I'll tell you the entirety of it if you're intrigued. His back story is one of the very few that doesn't contain spoilers (or, at least, not that I have to include in the story).

Chromia's "natural order" is how it was originally. In other words, that was when the mirror was entirely in tact, humans on one end and singlareu on the other. The "mirror" doesn't really exist tangibly, it's just the barrier between the two realms. It's not really located anywhere. I'm not sure how to explain it.

They do kind of develop and mother son relationship unknowingly. I don't think I can say too much about it or I'll accidentally hint to it. (you'd probably figure it out, lol)

Ah, more info! I love reading about it, so there's no need to apologize.

So his name is Harmut. I feel bad for him. Symbolism! Does the man who takes care of him have a hidden relation to Harmut? Sure, I'd love to hear the whole story. You can PM it to me or reply with it, either way is fine.

Oh, that makes more sense, then. They want to close any pathways between worlds and keep each other isolated?

Ah, alright. I suppose I'll simply wait to read the whole thing and see how the relationship develops.

Bah, I keep realizing that it's a wall of text once I post it! It's so funny!

Oops, the t didn't show up when I typed his name! It's actually Hartmut. He was called Mutt when he was young and Hart by his friends later. Nah, no hidden relation between the two. Alright, I'll PM it to you.

Yes, because if the pathways don't close it will more than likely be disastrous. Well, the mirror keeps cracking, so eventually it will have to break. That can only mean chaos.

lol, I have to keep some secrets or it won't be interesting, right? Be warned, it might take a while to write. It took a year to write the first part and the second parts just as long, if not longer. Also, I want to re-write some of it. But you never know what my attention span will do. So who knows? XD

Aww, that's so terrible a name! Still, I have to smile at it. Mutt. Haha. Poor guy. At least he makes friends.

What happens if the mirror disintegrates entirely? Will humans and singlareu roam freely across both planes? Oh, my.

That's alright; I can be patient. ParaShi will take quite some time as well, anyway. A year isn't too long in the grand scheme of things, actually. To be self-centered, Chiaroscuro is taking much longer and I've barely written anything. Did that year include planning time? If not, how long have you been developing your idea?

Kite-Knight In reply to NamiLoveLess [2010-08-30 02:02:48 +0000 UTC]

lol, I didn't intend it at first. Hartmut means brave mind. I was thinking it was a bit too long of a name and wanted a nickname for him. And so, there you have it!

It's not quite "disintegrating" exactly. It's more of...well...picture a mirror getting constantly smashed, and then bam! Nobody's quite sure what will become of Chromia if it happens, but it can't be good.

I know, Parashi will be forever from now. I'll wait until the end of time for it though, lol. True, a year isn't actually that long. It's not self-centered, believe me! Nah, I kind of made it up as I went along. It was actually based loosely on another story I wrote once. It sucked (because I didn't know how to write back then) but it's still dear to me.

Oh, I see. A good name meaning.

Ah! That makes more sense now. Will it ever happen in Mirror, Mirror?

Ah, okay. Haha, I envy your ability to do that. What was the plotline of your old narrative?

Kite-Knight In reply to NamiLoveLess [2010-08-31 19:53:01 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, I always have fun with names. They all mean things, lol.

Yep, the mirror shatters by the end of Mirror, Mirror. It's not very fun. XP

You shouldn't envy that, it screws me up sometimes. Uhh...it was just your typical boy with prophecy defeats evil monarch type of thing. I made it more intricate as time passed though. Still not so interesting.

That's true, lol. Perhaps ever plot is cliche somewhat in its roots. If you think about it, everyone has to be influenced by something.
