狛犬-Komainu, Lion dogs
Close relatives to Shisa and Fuu dogs, the later being found in the Jade Imperium, these creatures of the Sun Empire are natural protectors. They guard temples, houses, and estates from their pedestals, but they will leave their posts to chase down evil spirits or follow after people they feel the need to protect at times. They have a strong will to do good, such that they might punish bad yokai harshly while only scaring away less harmful ones. They are friends of other guardian spirits such as foxes.
Often they live in pairs, but not always ones of differing genders as some believe. When they keep their mouths open, it is said to ward away evil spirits, while keeping their mouths closed is said to invite good spirits to stay. A pair may alternate these duties.

Any of the doggo statues are my favorite spirits I think, so I really wanted to make a decent entry for them. We need some good spirits who will protect us from all the naughty ones too lol. I feel much safer for everyone now xD
Arcanine and growlithe are my fave pokemon, but I always think about how furfrou is a royal protector dog and thought a regional furfrou komainu would be fun too!
