I'm featuring you in my journal. Would've let you know last night, but I was so tired, my tired was hanging out. Lol!

I saw that, and you have me in good company, too. I also saw that the color red runs dominant throughout, makes it all look so rich. Thankyou.

Wow, what a compliment. Thanks! I'm not able to see it that way though. I'm having CSS-ical difficulties. It's pink for a ways, then the reddish color. And now my features have vanished, even though the codes are all there. My stamps have gone to high heaven too. Frack! But you're so welcome, lol!

Hate to sound like a broken record but, is it for sale?

Kitten-of-Woe In reply to Mredria [2007-01-18 02:17:23 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it is for sale and any others I haven't specified as already sold or being done on commission. Right now it's in a show and I won't get it back until at least late February.

Thankyou and yes, it is for sale. Everything I do is for sale unless I specify that it's being done on commission or already sold.

Kitten-of-Woe In reply to ohnojaylo [2007-01-18 02:14:20 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it is for sale because I made it for shows and competition (it wasn't a commission). I don't have it with me now though because it is in a juried show and it won't be shipped back to me until at least late February.

A lot. Lol. Seriously though, for dA members I'd consider pricing most any of them somewhat closer to their wholesale prices than the retail.

do let us know if/when it's up for sale... I think you're going to have a bidding war on your hands!

It's such a gorgeous bag, and the unicorn just works so well, and not necessarily in a fantasy/medieval type way, I think the style could be very mainstream too. I shall fave it with much love! congrats on the DD!

I made this one as part of a show and it is still for sale. Doubtful that there would be a bidding war though as I am rather expensive. On the other hand, I do offer it at the wholesale price plus shipping to interested members of dA and one other site I'm a member of (retail prices at galleries and retail establishments). Thanks so much for ing it

Best of luck with your competition. As gorgeous as this piece is, if it's only the back up, I'm sure you'll at least get in!

My first try as a contestant I sent in 4 entries (the maximum allowed) but only two were accepted and only one took an award, an honorable mention. Next time around (it's a biennial affair) I had figured out better what they were looking for and one of my 2 entries won a nifty purchase award. I'm sticking with my research 'cause it might work for me again this time, too.

What a fabulous bag! I certainly hope that the piece does well at competition. What sort of contest & category are you entering?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitten-of-Woe In reply to Akai-Ink [2007-01-11 14:22:30 +0000 UTC]

Well truthfully, I sent it only as a back-up to the other one that I haven't posted on dA yet. It's the other one that might take their attention, but I've been wrong before. The contest is a juried wearable art exhibit in WA state, but open to all 50 states. I don't know how familiar people in this part of dA are with that contest but if I had joined up earlier I could have posted the details. It's open to any art that's wearable and that includes garments, bags, jewelry, hats, footwear, you name it. It's been going on for almost 20 years and this is my third time entering. It's tough just getting in and the jurying was done on Jan 5, so I am feeling queasy about not just taking an award but just getting in!

It is the "9th Biennial Art to Wear Exhibition" with $3000 in awards. The next one is in 2009. Here is the link to their website if you want to check it out: [link]

You're welcome and yes, they do get some pretty high-quality entries. I haven't found out how I did yet because I couldn't make it to the awards ceremonies (the roads are horrendous around here and sometimes we're completely cut off in winter) and I haven't heard by mail yet either. What bugs me is that garments always seem to be emphasized, it's very difficult to take the judges' attention if you're doing something else, but this time I knew that there was a well-known appraiser of antique jewelry (she's been on those televised antique roadshows even) so I made sure my non-jewelry, non-garment entry was loaded down with 10 stones.

Sorry you couldn't make it to the show. I'm sure it must have been amazing. I suspect the vast majority of their entries are garments and jewelry, hence the emphasis. Regardless, your bags are luscious and absolutely deserve more than a little attention. Don't forget to post the result when you do find out!

Kitten-of-Woe In reply to sorgie [2007-01-11 13:00:11 +0000 UTC]

it's a lot, yes -- each one takes at least one to two months to make. The drawing and planning take up more time than you'd think, but once an idea is thought out and on paper it almost makes itself (well, except for that annoyingly laborious thing called execution, heh).

Sorry for not replying sooner, am new here and still confused by this huge site and all its glitches. But let's see, guess it must be words like hair-on-calf? Well, that's just a calfhide that still has the hair on it. And cabochon is just a stone that isn't faceted - has a flat back and a domed top/front. Most stones in jewelry are beaded, faceted or are cabs. Vermeil is a very high karat gold that's put on over sterling silver. I like it better than gold-plated stuff cos over time after the gold's worn off you still have the sterling - underneath gold plate is usually just some cheapo brass, not very nice.
