Yes, I did try to give a medieval feel to it and the others in my gallery that are in the same series (dragon, Celtic knot, and Celtic cross). It and anything else in my gallery not done on commission are for sale. Thankyou for the compliment

Thankyou! I read on your journal that you're studying couture finishes, etc. I've put my own background in couture finishes to work on my leather. It's been very useful being able to put that into practice on something that's only just an accessory.

ah, but I envy the skills you have in your genre and the ability to use a plasma cutter. I can't even imagine what it must be like to use tools like that, so I have to be content with honing my own skills and admiring the work of fellow artists like you from afar.

plasma cutters scare me...but i use them anyways..even if i jump every time i strike an arc ^^ and then i get a horrible sunburn from using it.. >< so it has its consequences...i just envy people that have the time or commitment to hone one skill, i just kind of go all over the place and am rarely content with what i come up with...or when i am content, i never want to do it again...

Amazing work, I've never done leather so I've nothing useful to add really. Except I like the quilt like quality of the added on pieces and the difference in texture the stones give

thanks! I don't normally use fabrics but for this series (there is a dragon, knot, and cross in my gallery as well) I used jewel-tone colors of velvet -- each one had a different colored velvet and each also had a different quilting pattern. There's just something magical about velvet and gemstones and it was exciting to plot out which colors and which gems to use in this series.

I'm not big on religious motifs, but I really like the medieval banner feel the series has. I think you're right about the velvet and gemstones. Malachite, I didn't notice any, I think you need to sneak some of that in

Oh, but I do have something with malachite on it. You can see it here: [link] But now that you've mentioned it, it might not be a bad idea to look into getting some more malachite cabs, thanks!

thanks! I wanted to do a fantasy line and I've made 4 so far, including this one, a dragon, a Celtic knot, and a Celtic cross, and they're all in my gallery. The 5th one will be a fairy but I got sidetracked by other stuff, so she's still only just in my head and on paper. Anyway, they all have the same basic design and structure, but with different themes, colors, and gemstones. But then most all my leatherwork features stones, can't help it, it's too much fun coordinating them with the leather colors! There was a feature article just a few days ago on garnets, hope you saw it because it was very good.

Lol, that's funny. I entered this Unicorn and the Mandrake. I think the Unicorn was too safe in their eyes, and the Mandrake might have been too weird for them.

well, that makes only you and me because so far I've gotten not much more than raised eyebrows, oh well. You've inspired me to dig up the sketches I have for the Mandrake series (the one in my gallery is #3) and put a collage of them in my scraps. They were drawn by and are real cute, especially #4. Thankyou, now I gotta get to work on that
