Description No one asked for this one, but its been something that people have been pestering `loish about a lot so I'm sure someone wants to know it :3 My other tips/tricks/tutorial sheets have been mostly beginner level, so I thought it was time I posted something a bit more intermediate.

That's a nice tutorial but i have a question, how do you set up the picture to be a texture?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kitton In reply to qikasha [2009-12-20 02:02:03 +0000 UTC]

Just copy and paste it into the new layer, you don't need to do anything to the texture to prep it for this!

LibertineM In reply to enigmainyoureyes [2009-06-25 18:42:02 +0000 UTC]

You can paste into a new layer, but this is really Photoshop territory. In Painter X I'd recommend playing with the Paper Texture feature that is in either the Canvas menu or the Texture Adjustments menu. Or make a new layer and swirl some thick stucco brushes or 'asto brushes on a transparent layer.

kitton In reply to enigmainyoureyes [2009-03-19 16:35:02 +0000 UTC]

Sorry I don't use that program.... but typically you find your own textures yourself! Just search for "textures" here on Da, or check out my ~kittonstock stock gallery if you want... then you copy them and "paste" them into a new layer in your image. Hope that helps, but I can't really troubleshoot because I have never used that program!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kitton In reply to StormyBlitz [2009-01-21 01:57:14 +0000 UTC]

People use different sites to download them. Feel free to use any off my stock account ~kittonstock or else search for it in the dA search function. Does that help? Or were you asking something else?

so does a deeper color actually "bother" the image less? I have no scanner right now, so i'm having to learn how to do pure photoshop, and my pictures look so bland without the scanned paper texture T_T

kitton In reply to buyobabyboo [2008-11-24 06:15:50 +0000 UTC]

I don't completely understand the question, sorry!

hayakatsu In reply to kitton [2008-12-08 01:08:09 +0000 UTC]

i think this person is asking whether a more vibrant coloured texture would not affect the color of the original piece as much as a pale colored texture would.

looking at your tutorial i would ask the same thing, since the paler pink tone seems to change the color of the original piece more than the deeper pink did.

um, did you understand that?? i really hope you would answer this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kitton In reply to hayakatsu [2008-12-08 08:39:26 +0000 UTC]

I think it has more to do with the tone of the colour you put overtop than the brightness. Like if most of your colours are warm, than applying a warm colour probably has less of an effect whether or not its brighter or higher opacity than a cool colour would?

I'd always wondered about textures.
tried them once and failed so miserably, kekeke.
