Nope you import it like any other file (copy and paste) onto the new layer. :3 Does that help?

Sei-Tenshi In reply to ??? [2006-07-30 20:00:10 +0000 UTC]

Question. How do you colorize a texture? If you mean the drop-down menu on the layers window, when I use it.....everything turns a nasty grey. It happens to evry one I have used.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kitton In reply to Sei-Tenshi [2006-07-30 20:05:42 +0000 UTC]

I use a colorize funcrion thats not in the layers menu. In PSP its colors> colorize... I don't know what it is for other program's but I hope that helps :3

Sei-Tenshi In reply to kitton [2006-07-31 21:03:21 +0000 UTC]

Hmm....ok! I'll explore around Photoshop to see if I can find it! Thank you!

Sei-Tenshi In reply to kitton [2006-08-01 04:04:22 +0000 UTC]

It's okay! And I think I figured it out but it's ..... different o_o Oh well! I can basically use burn and didge to alter it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kitton In reply to Sei-Tenshi [2006-08-02 06:28:05 +0000 UTC]

I actually never really liked burn or dodge. Mostly because its pretty obvious when you use those tools.... unless you do it subtly!

mcatra In reply to ??? [2006-07-29 22:37:47 +0000 UTC]

I've been wanting to use textures for a long time now, considering the fact that they make images look so much less perfect~

yea I like the rough, old look it lends pieces :3

Oh I see, really helpful thanks!

I never use textures in my drawings, I've tried to am... emulate that effect with brushes 'coz I don't know where to get good textures or maybe I fear them haha , well, nice tut !!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kitton In reply to Mikame [2006-08-02 18:36:57 +0000 UTC]

Yea emulating with brushes is really the way to go..... using textures like this is kind of not such a good tecnique, but it does the job :3

Sweet!! This is a great tutorial!!

I am going to try it out with one of my piccies.

Thanks for making it and the effort you put in this! I don't know if a lot of people tell you this but you're truly appreciated for all the honest effort you put in your work and every single thing you do in this community. If it wasn't for a person like you I think DA would have went down hill a long time ago.

So here it is. Thank you!! and I appreciate you!!!!!!!!

i make the textre b/w and then blend the layer texture with overlay mode... ta da... but really i dont use textures too much because i dont work with vectors and look funny

faroresama In reply to ??? [2006-06-24 05:43:34 +0000 UTC]

I've always loved the use of textures like this but I just can't seem to fit them into my pictures :\

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kitton In reply to faroresama [2006-06-26 22:27:28 +0000 UTC]

yea its a bit awkward to try to force them in..... Its become more of a stylized thing. I like textures to be either very faint and discrete (then they are used well) or really really bold and obvious (ala stylistically). I think its difficult to learn where and how to apply them to get the effects you want...

Cat-girl-aholic [2006-06-24 04:14:46 +0000 UTC]

Very nice tutorial...simple but more importantly leaves room for a lot of inspiration and creativity. I'll have to do some experimenting with something like this and try some different presentations for my work.
