Description Finally I have got some photos of these scars healed. Wiring Diagram and Endless Knot both done by the amazing Timb Wilton.
You can see how both scars healed differently. I love the way they have turned out.

If you look through my other photos you will find both of these scars freshly done.

If you have any questions, happy to try and answer them.

Oh the things dA will give a Daily Deviation to.

Why would you want to do this to your body? Not everyone wants a bumpy body to caress.

I featured this. And the reason for it is simple. I am a volunteer for the Body Art galleries and community. Within the Body Art galleries, there is a category for scarification tattoos. It is recognised as an art form. Therefore it is my duty to ensure I represent it as I would any other Body Art category. As such, if there is a good scarification tattoo on dA, it is as entitled to a DD as any other art.

This is what I am here for, this is what the category of scarification tattoos is for, and if you have a problem with either of that, you should contact Moonbeam13 by note or email about it.

Otherwise, it will continue to be eligible for a DD, and in fact I do my best to ensure I feature at least one scarification a month and one suspension every two months.

Clarification on the "suspension" bit? Are you implying something? I don't believe my comment is grounds for account termination or suspension. I should be entitled to express my comments or.concerns on what would.seem like self-harm. It is clear you and other staff members/volunteers perceive this sort of.thing as an artform. Not everyone.does. no need to.follow up with "not.everyone.is an account holder with deviantart."
Again, I request clarification on the suspension bit. The rest of.the comment was clear enough. Am I reading too much into it or do you just find joy in finding a reason to suspend members?

... I meant suspension art.

The BME wiki has more information on it. wiki.bme.com/index.php?title=S…

Suspension art? I've never seen such a thing before. I am at a loss for words.....
....I don't know the emote for scared fleeing.
And I don't see the library for emotes on the inbox comments anymore. Would anyone at dA consider putting them back for us to refer to?

Exillior In reply to SilverRattler [2013-10-26 19:25:50 +0000 UTC]

You should be able to see a " + Add Media" at the bottom left corner of your reply textbox, and you can find the list of emotes in there. I know there is a feature being beta tested there but I think that this part will work for you too.

And lol there are a few emotes... Does this one work?

Wait, people are supposed to care more about being caressed than what makes them happy?

I just find it surprising scars/bodily harm would make them happy.
In the short-term maybe, but I doubt they'd enjoy it for their entire life.

I've never personally undergone scarification, but I do have a lot of scars and I have to tell you, I love the way they feel. They weren't fun to get, but they tell a story of my life, not the pretty bits, but the places where sh*t got real, where I struggled and bled and fought. And when I run my hands over them, where my skin is 'bumpy' as you say, I feel at peace, because I weathered the storm, I lived through the experience, my soul and body healed eventually and yet, left me this reminder of my own endurance, my own strength. The (emotional) wounds that didn't leave scars are harder to recover from than the physical ones. Scars tell us who we are, they connect us to our past, even if it's not pretty. It's not always about conventional aesthetics. Sometimes it's about being proud that you're alive. Maybe this woman wants to make a similar statement. It's not all about sex appeal and conventions or doing 'this to your body'. Sometimes people feel like their body is making them a victim of false advertising. We shape ourselves and how we feel on the other side is worth a hundred people telling us that we've 'ruined' ourselves.

It seems the same as tattoos basically, both hurt at first, but the end result is a beautiful mark of something you really believe in or love, these designs on her are gorgeous, and scars are used as decoration in many cultures.

It sounded pretty consistently like you did not approve of this body modification because of your personal preferences those your own body. I am curious as to why.

Hope that clarifies.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SilverRattler In reply to neurotype-on-discord [2013-10-26 00:24:25 +0000 UTC]

It doesn't clarify entirely. I am confused by your use of the word "Consistently". Just because I don't approve of the idea of scarring oneself, doesn't mean I was instructing this person to do the opposite.
Also, I feel as though you're missing a word in the last part of the first sentence.
"because of your personal preferences those your own body.

What are you curious about? Why I'm against intentionally harming myself? Same reason I'm against "cutting", if you know what I mean. It seems like a cry for help or for attention.

Great aesthetic!! - I'm gonna nerd out for a moment. Is that the circuit for an iPod charger? I see a diode bridge rectifier connected to an inductor which would convert AC to DC... Is there any hidden meaning behind this?

No, she had someone cut it for her, I believe. That's how most scarification works. If you're going to have something intricate engraved on your body for the rest of your life and it want to look clean and beautiful it's easier and smarter to have someone else cut it for you.

I don't usually like this sort of thing... However this looks really pretty. The artist did a really good job and being combined with your colorful tattoosΒ  make for a really great composition. It looks awesome If I wasn't such a chicken I'd love some like the top one on my shoulder... but I'd probably never have the guts or patients to have this done.

I must admit that I am not particularly a fan of scarification.Β  It always looks gross, but this is probably some of the most beautifully made scars I have seen.Β  Thank you for being able to change my opinion with such magnificant marks.Β  The artist was also quite talented in being able to do it so clean and neat as well.

And as a side note, thank you for being confident enough and a bit "devious" in posting a bold form of art and being true to the name "deviant"art.Β  It's good to see people on here who are still willing to break barriers of the art world yet show something that was also made with skill.
