I'm a little less familiar with them, but I'll definitely look into it!

Well, I breed rabbits and still learned about rabbits here. xD I figured when one of my bucks pressed his chin against my hands and the edges of his cage when I open it was about territory, but wasn't sure - I am owned by him, I suppose. xD No one else in the barn does that to me. And I knew that does got dewlaps when they have babies, but I had no clue what it was really for. x3

Oh I'm glad to hear you learned something even though its kind of an old tutorial and was actually thinking of making a new one. But ah, breeding rabbits sounds like a job full happy cute faces ;_;

EarthIce224 In reply to Kium [2013-08-25 19:45:04 +0000 UTC]

Well, it is, but it has it's downs, too. After all, rabbits can't live forever, but so far my luck's been good.

Β

And wehaven't gotten heat or air conditioning in the barn, and right now it's like 88 f out >.< Hot work but no rabbit can be without water, that's the worst possible thing in the heat.

oh no D: those poor buns.Β
it's so sad that they don't live longer, but I mean, with the time any pet has you just give them lots of love and care so they have a good life Β

Yup. I'm very glad that my personal favorite is a strong young buck, even though he doesn't show anymore - that's because we have a buck now who's honestly a stronger example of a Rhinelander, so we breed and show him. Buckthorn - my favorite - has turned into a pet, really, since the breeding program really doesn't NEED him. xD He's so sweet, though!

Cool tutorial with cute pictures!
I noticed a typo in the fourth paragraph. 'Flap like' is supposed to have a hyphen: 'flap-like'.

Oh no! X3 I don't have the psd file, or at least I don't think I do. Oh well, I was thinking about updating it anyway.

"No seriously, I tried to poke it..." XD Ahahahaha!

I love it! Thank you for this! I've been trying to do life drawings of my rabbit in order to improve my rabbit drawings (I find them very difficult to draw for some reason), but I find these observations from a gifted artist to be most helpful! Do you keep bunnies of your own?

See it did [link] . I was able to keep the realism but infuse some non-realistic in it. Now to actully finish the piece.

This is very useful. I've been al over the net trying to find usable information on bunny anatomy for a rabbi-headed doll I'm making. Thank you for sharing this and I shall link up to this when I put some images on my blog.

Rhissanna In reply to Kium [2012-07-08 16:12:33 +0000 UTC]

This really was very useful. The comment about the acorn-shape helped me design the basic cloth head under the paperclay and your drawing from the front was my main source for sculpting the features.
Thank you, thank you, for making my rabbit doll possible!
I've posted a picture of the completed head and put a link to here [link]

The only other place I found rabbits viewed face front was on Disapproving Rabbits. [link] And I can't draw those. They'd disapprove...

Finally, a rabbit tutorial that's actually realistic! For some odd reason, it is extremely hard to find any tutorial on rabbits, let alone one that actually shows how to draw them realistically. I guess this is because people like canines and cats more so than cute little bunnies and rabbits.

But anyway, thank you for posting up this tutorial. Now I can finally draw rabbits the RIGHT way instead of the cartoony way.

very nice. I like that you mentioned the whole rabbit head difference by breed, becasue I was reading like... so not true for quite a few breeds (biggest would be Holland's as their heads are more like a square-ish ball)
