Description This was the second animation project I did. Though it was actually for my Research: Looking at Animals class, rather than Drawing for Animation. Again, it isn't finished. Only the dolphin section is actually inbetweened. And I want two or three more sections after the dolphin, using a chimp, a parrot, and a pug.

Amazing grasp on animation, animals, and animating animals. The dolphin slowly peeking around the corner cracks me up.

XD Thanks! I really like animating animals. They seem to make more sense than humans. Probably because they don't have arms...

You did an EXCELLENT job capturing the characters behind the animals.

Please excuse me while I go screw my jaw back in place.

Thank you! It seems like that's the most important part of animation, so I'm really glad you think so.

sitboy007 [2010-03-21 03:04:17 +0000 UTC]

It looks good so far. Can't wait to see it with all of the parts inbetweened (only in animation is that a word).

My only critique is that I feel that the cat's timing is a bit slow. When it runs after the ball, it should dash off quicker, with less key frames. That's just my opinion though.

The dog looks good, i like it's expression.

KlakKlak In reply to sitboy007 [2010-03-23 22:57:27 +0000 UTC]

I inbetweened a couple people in line the other day, 'cause I wanted to go second instead of last.

And what you say about the cat is probably true. XD But I think it's more an issue of how long I photographed the frames, and not that there are too many keys. But I'll definitely work on this when I go to tween it. Thanks for the tip!

Phantazmas [2010-03-20 21:28:20 +0000 UTC]

ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE. I love how fluid the motion is.

Is this done in frame-by-frame?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KlakKlak In reply to Phantazmas [2010-03-20 23:57:02 +0000 UTC]

Uh... that's the same as straight-ahead animation, right? x'D If so, then yes, mostly.

I find it really difficult to inbetween key frames, but occassionally I'll key out a second of animation, and then straight-ahead from one key to the next. The dolphin was almost entirely straight ahead, except for the first thirty or so frames. The cat and the dog would have been animated straight-ahead, but I only had a couple hours before class, so I just did the key frames. I haven't had time to go back and inbetween those parts yet.

lol i was like "awwww ...... wait what? dolphin??"

Really nice animations! You have the anatomy down as well as correct movements. You really have a knack for animating.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KlakKlak In reply to PerennialXII [2010-03-20 20:50:35 +0000 UTC]

Haha. XD Yeah, the dolphin is pretty random right now. It'll make more sense when there are more unexpected animals, but it should still have that "what...?" factor.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PerennialXII In reply to KlakKlak [2010-03-20 22:11:09 +0000 UTC]

It's awesome. Having those unexpected features in any animation or even painting just makes it all that much more enjoyable to view.
