Description
IMPORTANT:For the love of God, plz check out my original work! There isn't much (yet), but at least I worked on my actual drawings for more than 5 minutes!
Don Bluth was (and still is) one of the best animators, character designers and animation directors in the history of ever.
Okay, 4 of his films in the 90's were bad. He actually wanted his credit removed from one of them, he hated the final result so much.
But...
Banjo The Woodpile Cat
The Secret of N.I.M.H.
An American Tail
The Land Before Time
All Dogs Go To Heaven
Anastasia
Titan AE
... were great works of 4ยฎโ . Even Bartok The Magnificent was decent.
P.S. Since you really like this piece of crap so much, I updated it a little bit.

tl;dr
Just kidding, I read it all. Can be summarized into "he needed the money and had no choice." BTW, speaking of storytelling, he can create a concept and oversee a quality writing based on it. In NIMH and DOGS he made the concept and oversaw the rest. On TAIL he controlled the writing, even if the concept was by Steven Sp. On LAND, there was too much interference to his ideas, he didn't like it.
So, where did you get this thing abowt "him being unable to tell a good story from a bad one"?

I think I read it somewhere in "Art Of Animation Drawing" that for him, actually bringing his ideas together to form a story was tough. In one story, he talked about how he and all the writers for All Dogs spent a whole session throwing ideas around and getting really excited, but struggled for almost a year trying to write it as a script. I read somewhere else that he was chased out of a lot of recording sessions by the producers. I need to re-read a lot of it, actually.

Well, the film industry is much kinder to indie filmmakers nowadays, so I think now would be the best time for him to make a comeback.

He's not really interested in "comebacking" now. He thinks more of the future, he wants to make sure there will be people who'll replace him. That's why he made his website in the first place.
^ is not an opinion, but a logical conclusion after seeing many interviews and being on his forums.
P.S. For God's sake, will SOMEBODY look at my original work? I know it's not that good, but I put MUCH MORE effort into drawing my pictures than in making this silly poster!

I kind of liked Rockadoodle, but yeah the rest of his work in the 90s were all shit. I especially hated A Troll in Central Park. What was he on during that time?

He had to "make shit" because the companies that were releasing those films paid him money.
Now what the COMPANY EXECUTIVES were on, is another question.
Don always said that when a company is ONLY concerned with profit, without understanding how รคrt works, the end result will be bad. I guess he was referencing his 90's works.

No, "Reign of Fire" is a guilty pleasure. "A Troll in Central Park" makes your soul die a little every time you watch it.

You KNOW a film is bad when even Don Bluth wants HIS credit removed from an animated film (COUGH"ThePebbleandThePenguin"COUGH) but most of his other stuff was pretty good. Enough said!

The Big Lipped Alligator is there to remind Bluth to include the BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT.

That in turn reminds that he included BLAM on purpose.
