Description
Just a study I did today on an apple. I remembered reading a thread on conceptart (awesome site, by the way) a while back where everyone painted some sort of fruit or vegetable and decided to do my own test run.Related content

That... is a painting? O_o;;
Seriously? Really?
You never fail to amaze me. >_> The slightly rough surface on the left kind of bugs me, but, really... it's so minor, you can't really notice it unless you stare really hard. The right reflection on the floor seems too tall, but, again... hard to notice unless you really look at it.
I want to eat this apple. D:< It looks so delicious and yummy...

wowww. when i first saw this, i definitely thought it was a photo. for serious.
critique: hmm. i think that the reflection of the white on the left side of the apple gets me a bit... maybe because it doesn't have quite as much of a suggestion of the edge as the right side does? just a thought. i can't say anything for sure, though, because it's not a lighting situation i come across often. haha...
but yeah. this is awesome.

Thanks! I agree with you on that highlight. I couldn't figure out quite how to make it look like it fit. I tried your suggestion of adding a bit of an edge, but unfortunately, that didn't look quite right either. I suspect that the left highlight was partially due to some white papers sitting to the left, which I ignored when I concentrated on drawing the apple. It's possible that's why the reflection seems a bit strange. Hmm... I think I'll just have to pick up another apple for a second study, this time without the paper.
By the way, is AP going well?

Aaack, totally just had a first thing in the morning brain-blip. I was just helping Rachel with AP yesterday, so that was still on my mind....sorry about that. Anyway, real question. Are you going to keep up with art (like, taking an art class; 190 is basic, but fun ) or has it fallen somewhat by the wayside?

haha it's all good. aaaaand... I don't know!! I'd really like to, but it's tough fitting it in with my schedule. i think i'd like to at least try for one next year, but yeah, it's largely confined to doodling while taking notes in class.

I should say drawing during class is irresponsible but I do the exact same thing When/if you do take 190, you'll definitely do well. Any idea what your major's going to be?

Haha excellent. XD I'm not too sure... i was thinking history might be kind of cool, but i'm not too sure what i could do with it / how much i'll like going deep in history. Have you decided on one at this point?

Hmm... I don't know too much about what you could do with a history degree, you should ask one of your professors, or an adviser in the history department. You've still got plenty of time to decide on a major though . As for me, I declared my art major a few weeks ago, and it looks like I'll be going for a double major in philosophy (useful, huh? XD)
