For , an art trade-- I wanted to draw her, but I wanted to draw her in a different vision than the normal "photoreal portrait" that I was kinda known for back in high school.

So I drew her as an angel. 'Cause angels are badass. And then I put fire in there. 'Cause fire is badass. And I began adding other random stuff. I don't know, I can probably go further if I leave it be for a while, and I can just update this version with anyone's suggestions.

While deleting layers and merging others, I accidentally got a gradient layer to just overrule all of my colors. I turned that fill level down, and my god, after I saw that, I couldn't go without it. Without that layer, the colors feel washed out-- I think I got that ambiance I wanted from the get-go, but I don't know. As most of you know, I'm colorblind, so this could just look right to me but be awful to everyone who can actually see color correctly.

Inspired by Steve Argyle and his amazing tutorial (check it out, he's hilarious... and a god among gods).
Drawn entirely in Photoshop CS4, referencing a gesture I did during an open model session.

Edit #1 (that was fast):
Lowered the fill on a combined layer of flames to at least allow the hand to show a bit. As it stood, I may as well just had the nub there.

That ribbon was weird as hell looking.
