Thank you for the suggestion and for the feature!Homework for my character design class, my assignment was to create a character that personifies a medium. Being that it's what I use the most, I chose digital. The drawing is, however, multi-medium, since I began with a pencil drawing (which had quite a few anatomical errors). I've studied Hyung-Tae Kim's work and his process, hoping to influence my "style" a bit more. I think it's time to journey a bit away from the "moe" style, especially from the responses my last project got.
The tablet pictured here is a Cintiq, however I actually painted this on my own Graphire 4 (we do have Cintiqs at my school, but I wanted to do this while watching Breaking Bad in my room... hehe).
The painting in the Cintiq screen is one I did a while back of Samus, which can be found here .
Original image was 11" x 17", 2B pencil on Bristol.
Painted in Photoshop CS5.

Cintiqs are really expensive, and I actually don't have one. I think they're around $2000 each... I use a Graphire 4 so you're ahead of me there!

The professors at SCAD can be pretty harsh when it comes to manga influence. The key is to prove you can do it exceptionally well. Keep up the awesome work, and congrats on the DD!

Did you go to SCAD? I get very little gripe for the way I draw, only once did Tom Lyle tell me I would have to look out for the manga "trend" fading away in America-- the only people hard on me so far were students though.

I did go to SCAD, yes! Haha yeah, I guess the worst gripe I got was from other students. Professor Lyle and I would butt heads and disagreed on a lot of things, but he did always encourage me in the end. I miss him!
