Thank you for the suggestion and for the feature!Homework for my character design class, my assignment was to create a character that personifies a medium. Being that it's what I use the most, I chose digital. The drawing is, however, multi-medium, since I began with a pencil drawing (which had quite a few anatomical errors). I've studied Hyung-Tae Kim's work and his process, hoping to influence my "style" a bit more. I think it's time to journey a bit away from the "moe" style, especially from the responses my last project got.
The tablet pictured here is a Cintiq, however I actually painted this on my own Graphire 4 (we do have Cintiqs at my school, but I wanted to do this while watching Breaking Bad in my room... hehe).
The painting in the Cintiq screen is one I did a while back of Samus, which can be found here .
Original image was 11" x 17", 2B pencil on Bristol.
Painted in Photoshop CS5.

I only have a Graphire 4 myself, but I felt that a Cintiq really encompasses the digital medium. My school has Cintiqs though, so I try to use them whenever I can!

I've never actually seen a non-Wacom tablet so I wouldn't know.

I like manga influenced works such as this. Odd enough,as a viewer (?) an artist may do just as well in classic anatomy and photo-realism,but there is something to the manga style that I like.
As an artist,what difference you notice with a Cintiq over a Graphire?

Well, a Cintiq is like a monitor you can draw on. A Graphire, like what I actually use, is a brick that laughs at you.

I see. The Cintiq must be a dream in that you can directly see what you are doing,but those things are somewhere in the 2000+ price range.
I'm hoping they will come down in price,but won't hold my breath.

Wow, that looks awesome! I don't know if I like the little drills/pen tips in her hair, but hey -- everything else looks awesome so it doesn't really affect the overall image (to me). I love it ^_^.
