Description
Gorranter (A mixture of Gorilla, Rant, and Chanter)Type: Grass/Rock
Height: 5'6" (1.7m)
Weight: 203.2lbs (92kg)
Ability: Sound Wave (When the pokemon enters battle it emits a deafening sound which confuses the opponent)
Dex entry: Gorranter are solitary creatures and usually very placid, however if they become enraged it takes a while for them to calm down. They are usually only found in the highlands, If you hear a loud cacophonous noise from mountain areas it's usually Gorranter warning enemies off of it's territory.
The concept for this design was based around sound and the bagpipe. As gorillas are found in mountainous areas it made sense to go with a Scottish theme as they are often referred to as the highlands. I was in two minds about making it's secondary typing either rock or ice because halfway through my concept changed. I thought about Wales being quite a hilly area also and of course they have Mt Snowdon (Which would have made for really cool variants.) This definitely affected the color choices I made because I managed to work in all the colors of the Welsh flag. And finally in the true spirit of recent gen starters- it deviates from it's previous forms!

After seeing the actual designs, I now wish this was what it became even more.Β

these are some gorgeous concepts I can actually see them use this type of stuff in the actual evolution lines

that's a very cool concept, especially the bagpipe theme behind it! really hope Nintendo does something similar with the official evolution!

Thank you, I agree- I'm happy with this design although I think the appearance is quite a leap from the mid stage, and really not what people were expecting. I'm glad it looks cool though! Yes I imagined a trainer standing on the bottom two while holding onto the top ones to use it to travel. Thanks I appreciate the comment

Wow, I have like.... So many feelings about this. 95% positive.
The one negative I'd say is I feel like it looses a bit of it's identity in this final stage, like the Grookey to Middle stage works. But middle to this, doesn't quite flow as well.
All that said I really like this. Like the use of the flute from middle stage becoming a hollow club, haven't seen that before and it works so well. Love that this thing looks like a massive beast, but you can seen it being gentle with that blue bird too.
I would like to see a bit more orange, as it's my favorite color, and I love that Grookey has it, maybe in a shiny variant?
But yeah this thing would be an awesome reason to stay Team Groovey Grookey Gang. A+ man.

That's great! Your absolutely right, I agree the final stage doesn't gel with the former stages so well. I was trying to predict how nintendo would handle the designs and they seem to change a lot of characteristics in the final stages, like the leap from Dewott to Samurot, Quilladin to Chesnaught etc but maybe I went a bit too far with it.
I'm really glad you like the concept and that it's gentle side comes through. Hmm where would you put the orange? I had trouble balancing the colors so that would be interesting to know. And thanks for my A+ haha!

I really like the color pallette you chose for this one. It's quite unsual for pokemon and fits very nicely. I particularly don't like pokemon with too many colors but it feel right

Thanks! I'm glad that it still looks okay with so many colors (honestly I struggled keeping it simple/balanced in that area)
