His hair is long enough to reach his lower back, jet black and he keeps it tied back a few inches above the end in a loose ponytail. He keeps his hair hidden at most times under the hood of his Soul reaper robes and the lower half of his face is hidden behind a metal menpo. His captain's coat (from his time served as captain of squad 1) is slightly shorter than most and sports a light blue pattern along its edge. He keeps a straw raincoat slung over his left shoulder, which he puts around his shoulders when it rains and utilizes to hide his second Zanpakuto and launch surprise kido attacks.

Shikai: A pair of huge blades with shark tooth shaped tsuba and savage metal protrusions that bear a shark's silhouette.
The ability of these ZanpakutÅ is that Kasuzame can neutralise any physical attack with an ethereal blue burst of energy or a forcefield-like projection in its own form and Onizame can absorb any energy based attack by projecting a vehement red energy form that actually consumes the energy of the attack, either opening its mouth and capturing fired energy or actually tearing the energy from another ZanpakutÅ or an opponent and eating it.

Bankai: Tengokutodjigoku no Same: Avatars of Onizame and Kasuzame manifest from their respective ZanpakutÅ and assail foes with blasts of light and dark energy. These avatars can swim through the air and even through solid objects, tearing them up in their wake, only their dorsal fins protruding, allowing them to launch attacks from any direction and rip enemies to shreds. Their abilities become even more dangerous, as Kasuzame can sap the physical strength of those it touches and add it to its own and Onizame can absorb energy attacks and spritiual pressure, bolstering its own reserves. With this Bankai, a blue circular sigil appears beneath Yoshanai's feet that protects him from all physical harm and a red diamond shaped sigil protects him from all spiritual attack and he controls the sharks movements from afar with his ZanpakutÅ. If, however, he wishes to take the fight into his own hands, he can cause the two sharks to fuse into a single gigantic entity, the sigils becoming a single purple hexagon. The monstrous shark form surrounds him like a suit of armour and lends its enormous power to his attacks, making it a nearly perfect technique.
