Description
Got back into playing the awesome strategy game Impossible Creatures recently. The practice of this game is phenominally sub-par by todays standards, but I'll be damned if the concept isn't amazing; combining the DNA of real animals to create awesome mutant creature units to dominate your opponent. It's so much fun choosing the creature's different limbs and thereby affecting their attributes, changing them from air to ground to amphibious to water based monsters depending on the combo of animals and which parts of those animals your creature possesses. One of my very favourites is this beauty: half gorilla, half crocodile, these beasts can travel from land to water at will and pack one hell of a melee punch!Related content

Nice combo. I liked whalephants too, cause they were absolute tanks and had a decent ranged attack

But they cost so much coal! Still it's always fun to get games going long enough to build up ridiculous numbers of giant lvl 5 creatures. Orcaroos are hilarious.

True, I confess to using the resources cheat just to build some level 5 behemoths I don't know if I ever made an Orcaroo...

Gorodiles were always one of my favourites too; no because they were biggest or strongest... because how awesome does this combo look? You draw them exactly as I always design them too!

sick hybrid! powerful melee abilities, and amphibiousmovement means a very dangerous opponent.

thanks for the pro review! yep, a gorodile is nasty opponent up close, which is excellent considering how easy it is to spring an amphibious ambush

no problem! i think i came up with 2 of the most dangerous hybrids in the game (feel free to disagree); a Sperm Whalaroo (sperm whale head, body and tail with kangaroo arms and legs) and an Elemite (termite head and elephant body, legs, and tail)

they sound good combos. One of my personal favourites is sperm whale/elephant for a massive amphibious tank

definately one dangerous hybrid for sure. one question is, who's head is on the beast, elephant, or sperm Whale?

sperm whale, for the ranged sonic attack

i see. how good is this combination, in your opinion; Hammerhead shark head, body and tail, and chimpanzee arms and legs?

KnightOfTheTempest In reply to bryan1231 [2011-07-03 23:52:22 +0000 UTC]
thats pretty good to as it makes use of the shark parts for aquatic movement and biting and the chimp's arms for the rock throw attack

but i don't think it stands a chance against the Gorodile

The gorodile's melee prowess is indeed formidable. I think in a straight head to head you'd be right

i think every creature has a weakness though, and that is the gorodile's relatively average speed. if you sich a couple of Cheetahlephants on him, he wouldn't stand a chance

indeed. that Gorodile is nigh unstoppable! unless... would you consider it cheap of me to use a flying unit on him?

KnightOfTheTempest In reply to bryan1231 [2011-07-06 00:23:18 +0000 UTC]
not at all, as that is his major weakness as he is lacking a ranged attack

i see. that gives me an idea about a creature that can team up with the Gorodile to form a Dynamic Duo, of sorts

my idea is to cross an animal that can have a piercing ranged attack, the only animal that i know that has that is the Porcupine, and you cross it with something like a baboon. example being: Porcupine head, Baboon arms, Porcupine body, Baboon Legs, and Porcupine tail.

sounds pretty good as an artillery unit to back up the gorodile

it's a really good idea, i agree, but make sure you team it with the Gorodile or any other 'tough guy' creature or it'll be one short fight

I think you should be able drag body parts onto it so you can do a six legged giraffe thing or coyote arms with crocodile hands. Or be able to combine up to three animals.
