Description
Blender, Poser, Photoshop---
Hello and welcome! Thanks so much for taking the time to view my work. And an extra thanks to those who take extra time to favorite and comment!
My African Wear 1 and African Wear 2 for Dawn and V4 are out and in the store at HiveWire3D! They're on sale until the 25th. Take advantage of them now, because I don't know when I'll get the time to make sets this comprehensive again. The first set is dynamic clothing _and_ morphing headwrap and hair. The second is a wide variety of jewelry with detailed custom designs. Both sets were inspired by traditional and tribal African clothes and jewelry, but designed to be versatile enough to fit many different times and places. They're made for Dawn and V4, but I gave all of the static props generic fitting morphs that should let them fit a variety of characters and figures.
They're Poser, only though. Sorry, DS doesn't support custom made dynamic clothing. Also, I'm just not able to support DS myself. But I'm working on a (simple) morphing prop now that I'd love to bring to DS eventually. If there are any DS artists out there willing to partner with me for DS versions, please drop me a line.
Edite to add: Oh, I didn't notice this is my 100th deviation! Woot! Here's to many more in the future!

And I went and bought it... Have it in my runtime... Hope to use it... Think it would work on V4???

Oh, great! Both sets are made for Dawn _and_ V4. That's V4 in "Under a Bright Sun ." The props have A4, G4, and (where necessary) S4 fits, in addition to universal fitting morphs.

Congrats on your 100th!!
This is very beautiful skin!
And the colors and details for the clothes are wonderful
I need to try these in Octane...when I get time, that is...

Oh, cool! And thank you! Just to warn, I don't know how well all the materials and textures will translate. Some are relatively simple (all the clothes, for instance), but some are pretty heavy duty Poser materials, and some are purely procedural. I don't know anything about Octane's materials. I know Luxrender, though not noded, has a "mix" shader and supports a micropoly displacement fake that I'm pretty sure would make everything the possible there. I'm not absolutely sure, because I've done some things to make a procedural bead displacement which require equivalent variable functions (u, v, and math). But I think so. Octane doesn't support noded materials, right? But more to the point, does it have displacement yet? Pretty much everything I make uses displacement. It's one of the big reasons I don't render in Cycles much.

Most welcome!
I will have to see, as well, how they translate. Should be good practice and a learning experience. I must confess- my knowledge of all this is not what I would like it to be. But in fairness, I have a full-time job and my days can be very long. I sit in front of a PC all day and sometimes the desire to sit in front of a render and tweak dials is not there...
Octane IS noded- and then some! Many many options. But of course, is limited to it's interpretation of what comes from Poser when it converts to its own materials. But some things are similar. I used to venture in the poser material room quite often in the old days. But Octane is nice in that the changes are immediate- well immediate as the render will allow. But it is on-the-fly, at it were.
Displacement is NEW in the 2.0 Octane for both the standalone and the Poser plug-in. I use the plug-in exclusively. I think it was in reaction to the desire for Octane to handle displacement like other engines, to visually interpret it as they do. To pull it in. Again it is wholly determined by how it interprets materials from Poser. But in the node there will be displacement and the option to adjust. Again, my knowledge is certainly not complete. But in my node wandering I have seen some displacement options that must have been pulled in from Poser... but have yet to play. I have only just begun using 2.0.
I know more than once I have seen warnings to be careful how much one changes displacement while rendering as it may crash ones video card! But this is one, if not the main reason I'm curious about your clothing set. Octane should 'see' your displacements and convert accordingly. I have seen some very impressive renders with the new displacement, wonderful depth- as I see in your renders!
I hope to play more soon... And thank you for your response!

Oh, cool! That's really good to know. I knew that Octane was getting displacement, and I think the last I'd known was it had it in the standalone but not the plugin yet. So I knew it was under weigh, but I wasn't sure when it would get it. Oh! And it's micropoly displacement, right? Not dependent on the mesh resolution?
Did you have to pay for your upgrade? I'm always on the fence about even planning to get Octane, because it has so many costs. The video card. The plugin. The renderer. And all of them seem to need maintaining. I already have access to multiple unbiased renderers for free through Blender, but Octane is the fastest so far. That speed could be worth it if I get the money. But it's hard to tell what the costs would be.

THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!! I love it!!!
Now I'm thinking of actually rendering a few scenes of young and old orishas.
Thanks for the inspiration!.

Thanks so much! I took longer designing the textures than I probably should have, but I was really happy with the results.
