Komrad-Toast In reply to AnDy-SaLtEr [2010-05-18 19:24:35 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately no. You need to have at least Vista for this to work. If you can i HIGHLY recommend an upgrade to Windows 7. It is simply amazing. Much better than Vista. I was thinking about ways to make something like this that would work on XP though.

If by "hack the system" you mean change your shellstyle and customize windows, then i have a few good resources. But if you had a more malicious meaning of hack, then sorry, i wont help.

You can download a working copy of Glass Notepad here . If you could please download it from there i would appreciate it, as emailing it is inconvenient for me. By the way, that is only version 1.2, not the version you see here.

Looking good!

Here are some feature suggestions:
- detachable tabbed documents (with thumbnail preview on mouse hover)
- tabs can detach and be displayed as small glass sticky notes
- hazed font backgrounds (like in window captions)
- adjustable transparency and blur
- option to display urls and email addresses as clickable links

...and some stuff useful for coders...
- customizable code syntax checking
- auto-indent
- brace matching and highlighting
- option to use space indentation instead of tabs

If any of these features exist, cool. Just brainstorming

This may sound a bit far-fetched, but I would like to see organization support for programming. By this I mean, when you hit Tab, write something, then hit enter, it begins the next line with the same number of Tabs as the previous one. This is a well appreciated feature of Notepad++ that I would like to see in your amazing work and would make web design a bit more fun to look at rather than a bland bit of white. I'm already using V1.2 and I like it.

Komrad-Toast In reply to Satukoro [2010-02-26 00:18:05 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, that's actually a very good idea. I'll have to think of how to implement that, because i really love that feature in NP++. Maybe i could also add Syntax highlighting... (although that last feature may have to wait until after 2.0)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Satukoro In reply to Komrad-Toast [2010-02-26 02:22:19 +0000 UTC]

Syntax highlighting would be amazing, but then again, I'm not very familiar with application programming, only web languages. I never realized how much I rely on it when I'm working on websites.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Komrad-Toast In reply to Satukoro [2010-02-26 02:24:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, i'm attempting to recall all the CSS, HTML and XML i can remember. I have to make a website for a friend and myself and so far i can't remember ANYTHING. Application programming is where it's at for me, but that has syntax highlighting too, so i still know where you're comin from with that

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Satukoro In reply to Komrad-Toast [2010-02-26 02:30:37 +0000 UTC]

If you need to refresh your memory on web languages, you can always head over to w3schools . That's actually where I learned to make websites, but I still had to do a bit of searching for the right bits of code to do what I wanted. Also, I was wondering if you had any tips for getting started in application programming? I've been wanting to get into it, but I've always just ended up using more advanced tutorials than I could handle and not taking any of it in.

Komrad-Toast In reply to Satukoro [2010-02-26 02:34:47 +0000 UTC]

Well, i started in C#, it's a bit tougher than VB, but well worth it (because then you can make the jump to XNA Game programming, which i am in the process of doing). But i basically did a whole bunch of Google searches and pulled things together from different websites, it took time, but it was worth it.

Satukoro In reply to Komrad-Toast [2010-02-26 02:48:24 +0000 UTC]

Hm... That's useful actually because previously, I was starting in C++, which wasn't all that bad, but it was too confusing for me back then; and now I've been dwindling in VB, but it doesn't appear as if I can do what I want to do with it. Also, if I'm correct, I can use XNA to make games for my zune, which will be interesting due to the touch screen. Anyways, thanks for the tip, I'll check it out and see what I can do.

AWESOME ANOTHER ZUNE HD OWNER! You just made my day! Haha, yes, you in fact can make games for your Zune (and it is amazingly fun, and easier than i thought it would be).
