Nut (pronounced "noot"... not "nuht"... silly
) was the egyptian goddess of the night sky.Well, i don't know if "was" is the right term.... i mean, if the ancient egyptians had it right all along then i guess she'd technically still be the goddess of the night sky, right? what with the immortality and ever'thin'...
but i digress...
... Nut is normally portrayed as a full, sprawling figure with dark blue skin covered in stars, usually with an elongated torso...
... go hieroglyphs!
i don't really like the way this scanned. it's a new scanner, so i'm still working it out. the actual image is pretty small so the lack of detail really shows in a hi-res scan...
damn machines!!! damn yooouuu!

wow, I love the left hand, and how it's bent like it's cupping the sunlight. Look's like she waiting for Ra (or Atum) to start his journey through the underworld so that she can come out XD

Actually, it's not pronounced 'noot,' despite the fact that it is spelled Nut. Nut is the English version of the transliteration 'nwt,' which is what the hieroglyphs actually say when in reference to her name. And since the Egyptians didn't write down their vowels, it is impossible to pronounce the actual name. =]
But that's just me being a nerd.
I love her skin color. I mean, it makes sense that she would be dark skinned, she is is a nocturnal deity, but I have never seen anyone draw her with dark skin. Very beautiful, especially with the stars on her. Awesome.

You should do her opposite, which is Gab (earth god), hehe.
(Nut is also considered as a sky goddes. but, Ra (sun) is what the egyptians workshipped most)
