Description It's been a busy week, and it's shaping up to be a busy weekend - I've got a game to run (and prepare for, before that), taxes to do, and packing to finish for a Monday trip for work. Thus, it hasn't exactly been a conducive environment to get a lot of serious work (drawing, in other words) done, but I have managed to get some work done on my actual Rogue Trader character, Orin Niccolias.

Since I got cast as the titular Rogue Trader for the game, I decided to make a homage to one of my old characters from a 7th Sea game, since I still keep thinking "pirates in space." I'm looking forward to seeing how the game system works - I like the concept (and the Origin System was a lot of fun to work with), but it's only when dice start rolling that I can really get a feel for it.

Design-wise, all I knew was that I needed a cool coat, and a sword. The rest...just sort of happened.

Download for full size, as usual.

Thanks - I'm happy to hear that you like how his outfit came out. It went through several changes before I found a version that seemed a bit fancy without going overboard.

It can be Pirates in Space, but every so often it can doing something to help save the Imperium. Of course in saving the Imperium you can keep your trade status on a good footing with the guys who have access to better guns than your group does (usually).

I know that there are a lot more types of stories out there for Rogue Traders, but part of my mind keeps sitting there, repeating "pirates in space, pirates in space" over and over again. Not surprisingly, my lack of appreciation for the nuance is less than loved by our GM, but I'm getting better as I read more about the Traders and how they operate.

At least I think I'm improving...

As long as you make some improvements, and you don't end a sentence with "Savvy".

I don't think I've EVER ended a sentence with 'savvy'.

...Well, except for that one. But that was entrapment.

Don't worry I wasn't going to have that one count.

Oh yeah, this page [link] might help a little.

I'd recommend reading the entry called "Crapsack World" first.

Ah yes, I am familiar with this page.

TVTropes is a pretty good resource for getting a 'snapshot' of things.

Yup, and it is pretty accurate when it comes to 40K and Dark Heresy.

Just the right amount of detail to not make it boring, but not too much either- he is a rogue, after all.

I also love the strands in his hair.

I'm glad that you like his design - I tried to leave plenty of space to add details to him later, in case I want to represent some of his later adventures on his outfit.

I worry about that when i draw something that seems better then my stuff at the time. When i kind of out do myself. But think of it this way if you have done it once the potential to keep doing it is there. So keep trying and go for it!
