Description
One of the Gen Con sketches that actually turned into something worth hanging onto, this was drawn after spending some time drooling over some of the wonderful Terminator models that came with a friend's Space Hulk board game. I've generally been against terminator armor, mainly because the generic models have always struck me as very plain, but the Space Hulk versions were filled with details (and have made me want to go back and consider my remaining models anew...). I ended up feeling more than a little jealous. Unfortunately we didn't find the time to actually sit down and play a game, but between the Space Marine previews coming out lately and spending time watching a massive three-set version of Space Hulk at Gen Con my 40K desires are, for the moment, satiated. Never take off the helmet!
And too bad he's an Ultra
I like how the shadows / shading came out. And that skull is awesome.

40K has helped me improve in drawing skulls, not surprisingly.

Oh, how cool! I like the solid black framing his head and providing a focus for the eye.
He looks weirdly avuncular. I don't know if that's intentional or not. (I don't know enough about the setting!)

I don't know how often avuncular is used in 40K (or in general really, which is too bad - it's a good word) but I think it's suitable for the Ultramarines (my version of them, at least).
