Excellent reference material . Β Her outfit seems to have a sheen to it, so like white satin or latex looking?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kostmeyer In reply to NICELabs [2019-10-21 20:48:05 +0000 UTC]

Yes - the idea is that it isn't clothing - she's a powerful psychic and her suit is a telekinetic construct - she literally forms the suit around her - a solidified thought. So she can reinforce it with her mind and make it strong - or reshape it to appear as different clothing if she wants to blend in to whatever environment she's visiting. But the simplest form - the default setting - is a white skin tight outfit. I guess a latexy type sheen is as good a way to describe it, but remember, not fabric - no visible seams and it doesn't rip or tear - if exposed to too much force it shatters like glass.

Certainly... saw that part. Β Very cool. Β Had something similar with a hero I made years ago, except his bodysuit was biochemical in nature. Β He secreted it from his skin. Β  Wanted to check to make sure the texture looked proper. Β A white glass texture on a bodysuit would give that not really fabric look, or a white-chrome.... thinking of options Β

Sounds great. It's not easy to tell from my gallery because the shading of the suit often depends on the lighting of the scene - it looks very blue in some pictures, for example. I think you're best off seeing what works for you best in your software - can't wait to see what you come up with

I'm trying to make a comic were some of the best heroes are put out of comission but I can't decide to either make it were it appears everyone needs help and she can't do it and she goes insane or a special device that locks her inside one of her own portals and can't get out. You came up with her so you decide.

Kostmeyer In reply to TheTexasRanger [2013-01-04 13:24:25 +0000 UTC]

I don't think just not being able to get help would drive her insane! Some kind of device or psychic attack might do it though (temporarily of course!) Look forward to seeing whatever you come up with

Which one? If you have a look in my Gallery, there's a folder of general Vigil art, folder for the Vigil Villain drawing pictures, some comic strips, and another folder for AFL fights. The proper comic is awaiting a revamp before it begins in its new home on Rocketbot.

They gave two true loyalties, their handlers(a mother or father figure) and America the latter is so vague as the handle domestic terrorists as well as foreign forces.

ThePlanetRodinia [2012-10-23 02:27:49 +0000 UTC]

Wow! she sounds like a really amazing character!
Does she get her power from her suit?
I imagine she has most of her power without it.

It's kinda cool, Rodinia has many genetically engineered telepathic "goddesses".
Most are symbiotic with psychic squid type creatures that attach to their heads.
[link]

They would probably sense Vigil's arrival and seek to contact her.
There's also one time machine on the planet but I think it may be broken.
I'll tell you more in the note.

Kostmeyer In reply to ThePlanetRodinia [2012-10-23 05:57:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the kind words and the - much appreciated!

To answer your question about the suit - no Vigil's abilities all come from her innate psychic powers. The suit is a psychic creation - solid telekinetic force - which is why she can shange its shape at will.

Vigil comes from an advanced human civilization in the far future where she was worshipped as a goddess. Vigil doesn't exactly believe this - she escaped the confines of her world to seek adventure in the timestream, but she still has a superior attitude. She genuinely wants to help people, but partly because she feels - as a superior being - it's her duty to protect 'lesser' beings... so I wonder how she would respond to the goddesses of Rodinia?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThePlanetRodinia In reply to Kostmeyer [2012-10-24 00:09:40 +0000 UTC]

Cool! well most goddess on Rodinia aren't as powerful as Vigil.
They're actually trying to summon the true goddess the Astrum Nauta. The Dryads are more like mages.
[link]
When she returns to her physical form she'll be kinda like a female Cthulhu.
[link]
No one knows if she will destroy what's left of civilization but her Dryad followers don't care either way.

I think time travel can be pretty tricky plot wise, but that might be one thing the dryads would be interested in Vigil for.

I Have a time machine telepoter.
[link]
That might be a cool way for Vigil to enter the world.
Maybe it's creators are long dead and the witches accidentally pulled Vigil into Rodinian time.

Let me know what you think.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kostmeyer In reply to ThePlanetRodinia [2012-10-24 00:20:26 +0000 UTC]

The time machine thing looks great - we could definitely use that! Although there would have to be some reason why Vigil doesn't just leave after she's brought there. Where is it located? Is it in Hegemony territory?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThePlanetRodinia In reply to Kostmeyer [2012-10-24 00:55:13 +0000 UTC]

Well, I was thinking my time machine doesn't work right or the witches don't know how to use it properly. Maybe it breaks after they bring her through and at the same time messes up Vigils own ability to travel time. So she's mad at the Dryads right off the bat, and has to find a way to fix the machine or get her power back, maybe that leads her to the hands of the Hegemony. The Time machine is in the forest and the Hegemony live in the wasteland.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kostmeyer In reply to ThePlanetRodinia [2012-10-24 01:01:30 +0000 UTC]

What about if the Hegemony attack the Dryads as the time machine is being used, and take Vigil from there. Then Vigil has a purpose once she escapes - she's trying to find out where the time machine is and when she learns it she's trying to cross Rodinia to get there (and maybe fix it). The power black out can either be a side effect of the time machine or could be caused by whatever the Hegemony do when they get hold of her - they were expecting a Dryad but what they get is Vigil - what do you think?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThePlanetRodinia In reply to Kostmeyer [2012-10-24 04:06:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, at the moment the Hegemony are trying to consolidate their power in the Land of Relics.
It's kind of the Road Warrior part of the planet and there are still several factions there they need to control.
The forest is a bit of a nightmare for an army. No roads, tons of huge carnivorous beasts and the psychic dryads who attack most intruders.

Could Vigil arrive there by space craft? or some how end up in the land of Relics first?
Her powers could be knocked out by the Astrum Nauta, it's in a rather strange from at the moment, floating in space and causing all kinds of electrical and other disturbances.
If the Hegemony capture her first, they would probably try to extract her DNA to incorporate into their own.
Maybe the Dryads sense her arrival and realize she could be used almost like a weapon by the hegemony.
I can picture a scene of Vigil strapped into some device being slowly analyzed and dissected by the space nazis.
A dryad warrior perhaps aided by some wastelanders break in and sneak her out.
In time she is told of the ancient broken time machine, when the dryads finally take her there she realizes it was build by her own advanced race.
She turns it on and escapes.

This has already been a great exercise for me to explain my world in more detail.
It's really awesome you've taken such an interest.

I'll answer your note soon, just gotta draw a little bit tonight before it gets too late.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kostmeyer In reply to ThePlanetRodinia [2012-10-24 06:18:12 +0000 UTC]

Vigil doesn't have her own space ship - she doesn't really need one, travelling everywhere with portals - but there's no reason why she couldn't just go to the land of relics under her own power, called by the strange emanations of one of the old machines. If the Hegemony dissect her, maybe it's just that which knocks the power out - either the trauma of the experience does it (will the power return? Is the effect temporary?) or when they put her back together they don't do it right, or they syphon that power during the process. Then she goes looking for the machine to escape, somehow getting her full powers restored along the way.

(Not quite sure what the Astrum Nauta is! I've seen the picture, but I don;t quite get how it fits in)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThePlanetRodinia In reply to Kostmeyer [2012-10-25 23:31:45 +0000 UTC]

That sounds like a good start. We don't need to work the Astrum Nauta into the story.
I should probably warn you, I sort of create backwards. It takes me forever to draw so I have plenty of time to fit images into my world story after they are created. It's a fun way to work, but sometimes you end up with confusing or even contradictory back stories.
I'm just saying, feel free to take or leave whatever details you want to make and interesting story.

As of now, I see the adventure starting with the Hegemony in the wasteland and ending with the Dryads in the forest. Maybe I could do a couple illustrations and you could do a short comic scene by scene. A neat way to cross promote our worlds. It doesn't have to be an epic, just crazy adventure with a few unexpected twists.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kostmeyer In reply to ThePlanetRodinia [2012-10-27 15:32:00 +0000 UTC]

It's nice not to be too restricted by pre-planned details I think - nice to have total freedom with your drawings. Contradiction can usully be eplained afterwards! And crazy adventure definitely seems to be the way to go

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThePlanetRodinia In reply to Kostmeyer [2012-10-29 06:32:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, and I think Vigil would look really cool stretched and restrained by some twisty organic technology.
Maybe you could draw her stretched out and struggling with a pissed off look on her face.
I'll draw the twisty machines and hellish background.
Then, I'll give the image back to you and you'll draw Hegemony soldiers inspecting or interrogating her.(Maybe torture?)
Then you give it back to me and I'll tweak lighting and shadow to try to make it look like a cohesive image.
Share it with you in scraps or stash first and we'll go from there.

It's your move!
