Hi! First off thank you very much!
This is a little late of a reply but I suppose (I'm saying without testing) the best way would be to create a frame in the timeline with all the settings on what you consider default. This frame doesn't stop and plays directly to the frame where all the active buttons are, including the button that sends back to this "default" frame.

I've been wondering ... why is it that so many people can affort using such expensive programs like flash or manga studio? I mean, flash costs like 100 - 500€ or something and I really wish I had it but there's no way I can affort buying it ... am I missing something?

Well some use portable versions, found on YT, that are free.

Oh that's nice to know, thanks!

Though all I can find are those 30 days free trial versions ... are there others?

Hold on - here's a link to the programs I have portable:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNZEDf… - Adobe After Effects CS5 Portable [This works with Windows XP and up]
www.youtube.com/watch?v=znk7pm… - Adobe CS6 Illustrator Portable [Also works with WinXP and up]
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nHpf_… - Adobe Flash CS5 Portable [Also works with WinXP and up]
www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzlG5O… - Adobe Photoshop CS6 Portable [I don't have this version, but the one I have got taken down. This i 32 bit, so it also works with WinXP and up.]

They're all free, and not illegal.

I'm not sure what the question actually is...
A lot of people, and more than some may think, actually have integrity and buy the softwares.
They work to get the money for it.
Or sometimes, their workplace include that they get a copy for personal use.

Then, there is the case of students who can access some programs for free because it is in their line of studying.
I don't know for other countries, but in France, AutoDesk does give some student licenses for their programs.
As an architect student, I had that for AutoCad, which means it printed a very nice and visible band on all 4 sides of a print saying "this was made with a student version of AutoCad" or an equivalent; I'm translating from French.
100~500€ is nothing. AutoCad by itself costs 3000€.
Just like Adobe's complete suite.

Then there are people who use free trials. And manages to format their computer every month so they can keep doing that.
Or manage to block the way it checks if it has been registered in the system. Which I have no idea of how to do to be honest.

Then you have the people with not that much integrity who use pirated versions.
But heh, is it worth risking getting viruses?

Now Flash is the only program I know of that can make well... good flash files.
So the choice in the matter is narrow.

For drawing programs, there are a lot of professional programs you have to pay for; Adobe Photoshop, Jasq Paint Shop Pro, Corel PhotoPaint, Paint Tool Sai, Manga Studio, Illustr Studio and so on...
But you do have a great variety of free programs as well:
Autodesk SketchBook Copic Edition - copic.jp/en/sketchbook-ce.html
Paint.NET - www.getpaint.net/
The Gimp - www.gimp.org/
Pixia - www.snapfiles.com/get/pixia.ht...
Open Canvas - wistinga.online.fr/opencanvas/
MyPaint - mypaint.intilinux.com/?page_id...

You don't "need" a paid-for software but they sometimes have better possibilities.
If you want them is another story.
Getting 100€ from working is not too hard as long as you have a job or can be gathered by years of saving.
To give you an idea of what money is represented in "everyday" material, a collection of 250 manga volumes at around 6~7€ piece collected over years is worth around 1500€.

Wow thanks a lot for the detailed information!

The reason why I'm trying to get a good animating program is for the simple reason, that I love animating so I wanted to make some music videos or something on Youtube. Up to now I've been using "GIMP" "SAI" "Monkey Jam" and the Windows Movie Maker in combination ... but it's so much efford and the results are not really satisfying either ...

I checked some offers again and think I'll try to get a copy of Anime Studio. It's 'only' 44€. I'd love to do some interactive flash animations, too, but well ... maybe once I'll earn my own money. I'm gonna start uni next year, you see

Well, I just checked some stuff myself and I found this:
www.coffeecup.com/firestarter/
It's pretty cheap and there is also a free trial, so if it fits your needs, you could go with that.

Thank you again for your help!
I think that sounds pretty good, actually!
I'll try that one and just in case it's too simple I'll get Anime Studio as an alternative.

Some people have jobs, some others pirate it, and students that need them (as part of their studying) get it for free. There are a lot of options.

WindSwirl In reply to Etzaen [2013-07-19 20:17:00 +0000 UTC]

May I ask how you got it?
Not that it mattered much, I don't feel comfortable with pirating stuff so I'll probably never get it

CodeAndReload [2013-01-04 05:21:57 +0000 UTC]

The Flash authoring program will convert any wav files to mp3 files.
Even though they are internally MP3s they will probably loop well-to-perfect.

I do know that there are several libraries for reading and playing raw wav files.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kowai-usagi In reply to CodeAndReload [2013-01-04 11:51:27 +0000 UTC]

It's true that flash will convert it internally in mp3 (unless you disable it in the publishing options) and they do loop perfectly after the publishing.
But I was talking about the files you import to the library as as far as I'm concerned in my own experiments, every time I created a loop in mp3, I got a faint fade in and fade out that was enough to screw the looping.

Most of the small advices I give in this tutorial are result of me searching for sometimes hours to figure what the problem was. The sound format was one of the barely ever mentioned facts; or rather people were mistakingly advising to create a long lasting sound file (15 minutes!) for you couldn't make a perfect loop anyway (I got that in 90% of the pages I visited to sort the problem out...). In this example, I used only a sound sample of 29 seconds and in another one of 19 seconds.

CodeAndReload In reply to kowai-usagi [2013-01-04 17:57:42 +0000 UTC]

I suspect compressing the music twice (before and after inserting into the library) is probably enough to drive an audiophile up a wall.

What becomes a chore is loading an external song and getting to loop.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kowai-usagi In reply to CodeAndReload [2013-01-04 19:50:35 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure I get what you mean by compressing the music twice.
Personally, I've always rendered my music in either mp3 or wav format directly from Fruity Loops.

But yeah, that's a real chore.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CodeAndReload In reply to kowai-usagi [2013-01-04 21:11:58 +0000 UTC]

I mean that when you export the music from frooty-loops it will be compressed and when you import it, it will (probably) be compressed again.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kowai-usagi In reply to CodeAndReload [2013-01-04 21:25:45 +0000 UTC]

Ah yeah, probably... But that is probably the case whatever the format used from the start is. Unless you disable the compressing in the publishing setting; then it is "supposed" to keep the original file.
